Yap... the cables I use are the "house brand" (maybe ProCo? I have no clue.) from a local shop in town. They are guaranteed for life, so if one starts to die out (which has happened), I just trade it in for a new one. Been on a few two week tours and never had any problems. Live Wire patches from Guitar Center (same lifetime warranty) for patch cables. I love the way my guitar and amp and pedals sound with these cables, so I've never looked at anything more expensive (for live/pedalboard).
I will say that I do have a single 20' Mogami Gold instrument cable strictly for my recording studio that never leaves my home and is used for recording direct with guitar and bass; longer so I can connect my guitar into my amp in my closet and be able to walk across the room to the computer. Sounds fine; no hum, great clarity.
Other than that I don't give a shit as long as they work.

I have a coily cable I got from eBay for $5. I find that the cheap cables just have a higher tendency for solder connection failure, but I can fix that in seconds.

I use lower-mid range stuff. Not budget shit, but not flashy either.
Currently using Proel, but have used Peavey in the past with no complaints.

So nobody here is an Asterope fan?
http://www.asterope.com/Asterope provides more bandwidth, balance, and bliss. Our Instrument cables provide a reduction in noise and a substantial increase in clarity, harmonic and frequency response and spectral balance.

I use planet wave cables and plastic short cables for pedal.
I have played plenty high priced cables at my friend's place just for fun though. Nothing really stood out except his clone of a Cornish cable.
Yeah I know cable clone sounds silly...
It's a directional cable and compared to the other cables it sounded like having a clean boost at unity gain in the chain, giving defined mid and acoustic punch.
I didn't believe in the cable myth at all, but that cable just sounded much better.
With fuzzes like fuzzfaces, devi's fuzzes, and muffs, there was better clarity. It's like having a buffer in front of those fuzzes that don't play well with an actual buffer.
I didn't get one coz the price is too high.

I know there will be reactions like this, which is understandable, and I hate to sound like TGP...
I just wrote down what I know though. There's a cable that sounds different than the others, and to me it sounds better, and happens to be made into Cornish specs.
Just want to share some information, that's all.

It's cool man.
I don't mind TGP-like discussion. I occasionally learn some shit from it.

I roll my own.
Canare cable (they have colors like purple and yellow) which is super flexible, with either Switchcraft or G & H connectors.
I like the G & H silent versions, you can change basses and move pedals around without all the noise.
Just ordered some right angle ones so my patch cables will have a silent end too.

i just got one of these the other day and it kicks ass compared to my other no name guitar center brand patch cable especially since it was only like 3 dollars more. The next step up at my music store was a $30 patch dimarzio cableand i was like....i mean rly $30 for a shitty dimarzio patch cable! sheenanigans.
No doubt! I have 12 of them + the couple that I've made (LOVE my pancake jack one). Think I'm going to get one more pack just for good measure and for color coding loops and whatnot maybe

It's well known that the overall capacitance of a cable can very well make it sound different (more or less high-end roll-off) from another cable. There's nothing cork-sniffer about that.
But you really don't need to spend more than $50 or dollars to get well made, low-capacitance cable (if you prefer that sound). That was my point in starting this thread.
