I like a little amp breakup with Fuzz Face and Tone Bender types, and a big loud clean amp for Muffs.

I have a Fender Hot Rod and it takes all my fuzzes well. The lunar module it tits through it, as well as, the tone reaper. A Hot Rod may not be the best amp but is is pretty versatile and most pedals sound great through it,not just fuzz. YMMV.

Irregardless. If your looking for TONE then the only logical choice is a Dumble. Just ask Tag. Tag KNOWS TOAN!

That was one of the funniest things I had seen in awhile...I need to go find that link again.

Thts because it sounds like utter shit. I almost always want a clean ass amp, unless Im going for noise only. Then a small amp to overdrive can be kind of fun. The sort of middle ground that is cool sometimes is a fender bassman. But an AC30 is a modified bassman...

Interesting. I was messing around last night with my AC30...it's a Custom Classic one with the mastervol, tone cut, combined channel options, power/bias options etc. Now I've had quite a few Bassman amps over the years, mostly vintage ones, so I have pretty good handle on their tone and feel..and they did take fuzz pretty well. With that sound in mind..I was able to get that AC30 setup nearly identical to a Bassman. By really messing with the eq and channel volumes, along with the tone cut, I dialed out all that top end sparkle..that whilst very good on it's own adds too much high end when it's hit with a MKI or similar 'Bender. I was surprised at how interactive the eq is on that thing..and it's not a normal eq..it's more of a T pot like the Nature knob on my Pink Purple Fuzz in that it doesn't act like a linear pot at all. So, it's working out very well now...I think the nature of EL84 tubes lends itself to these raspy fuzzes a little more than say a 6L6 based amp..they seem to absorb more of the high end and mellow things out a touch. So, so far so good..AC30 stays..although an AC15 with an EF86 tube would be fun.

yep! el-34s too. I love 6L6s but they can be pretty brittle/spikey sometimes and when you add a raspy fuzz to that it can get way too sharp and icepicky.
ps--i traded my Vox, I just didn't bond with it like I expected to. But that EF86 in the heritage combo I had was easily the best thing about the amp. beeeeeeeeautiful harmonics

wtf what'd you trade it for?
