Me too and luckily it's no where on that diagram. The SD-2 is the only decent distortion/OD BOSS ever made. And they only produced for a few years.

Clearly because they couldn't fit it onto their fancy-shmancy diagram.
They saved that for their top quality, high end pedals. Like the DS-1.
The tone is in the bees.

kidding aside, I do find it odd/funny/interesting that they don't make ANYTHING that is falls into the "rough and natural" category, because I feel that, using their diagram, that's where a lot or ILFer's pedals and sound preferences would fall. Like, it never even occurred to them that a dirt box could be "rough" and not metal-related. Maybe it's because they would say all naturally occurring distortion sounds are inherently smooth? Oh Boss, oversimplifying tone with your compartmentalized modern-rock-tone crosshair. To their credit, though, this is strictly a
distortion diagram; fuzz is not even on the map, literally.

That's it, the HM-2 is going back on my board.

Overdrive. NOT A FREAKING BOSS CATEGORY ANYMORE.
DISTORTION OR NOTHING. TEN THOUSAND BEES CONTAINED IN PEDAL ENCLOSURES CAN'T BE WRONG.

it really just makes 2/3 of their pedals look like they're barely different. which they probably are...but still.

Well, that could be said about lots of pedal builders. It's just too bad that the nature of economics makes all their coolest/weirdest pedals die!

Not going to lie, I'd gladly own a BD-2.

Well maybe an HM-2 to mod.
Although the Metal Zone sounded better on bass.

I never found boss distortions to distort enough... I like my old silver knob SD-1... it has the cheese to it's sound that is cool for those cheesy types of things.
Does boss even make a REAL fuzz anymore? I have always wanted to get a hyperfuzz but that thing they are making that they call a fuzz

sorry but modeled fuzz makes me

I've had one for quite some time, I like it alot. It's great if I just wanna throw a battery in it and take it to a small jam when I just need something to boost my amp.

I still think ds-1s can be awesome...after some part tweakage and bending. Same with the other "junk" ones. Easy to mod, gives builders something to do, as well as work cause people pay to have those crappy metal pedals modded all the time.
