now if only we'd have more effects that work with lower frequencies better...

we got fuzz, envelope, compression, and chorus. but pitch shift leaves something to be desired, and flange, phase, etc. etc.

Sure. I think the pedal builders are finally realizing that there is a nice market out there for bass players. Hopefully the boutique builders will come up with some creative solutions to low freq. pitch shifting and other effects. It will happen eventually. Hang in there!

Pretty slick. Part of that makes me wonder though, why not just play a guitar? ;)

Haha, you're right. It wouldn't be nearly as cool.

Never heard playing bass described as a two string handicap! I like that. You must be somebody who likes a good challenge!

Yes it's cool and sounds good, but it certainly doesn't retain bass. When he goes all super pitch shifter solo on you there are absolutely no bass whatsoever (perhaps that's what he wanted). Generally when people refer to pedals being "good for bass," they mean "does it retain lows?" So in this case I'd say no, pitch shifters and the like are typically not good for bass in that sense. That's not to say it doesn't/can't work though. My board is a combination of bass and guitar pedals and I use both for both...

Cause you can't do those funky slaps & the other stuff on a guitar  .

well it IS a pitch SHIFTER. retaining the bass would kinda defeat the purpose :P

If playing guitar

guitar > ab box

a > PEDALS > guitar head, 2x12 and 4x12

b > POG 2 (dry off octave - 2 -1 dimed) > PEDALS > bass head 4x12

If playing bass

bass > ab box

a > PEDALS > bass head and 4x12

b > POG 2 (dry off octave + 2 + 1 dimed) > PEDALS > guitar head, 2x12 and 4x12
