Nothing wrong with the company, I just don't care for the pedals. They've never really caught my eye in a way that other pedals/builders have.

Oh, yeah, no that's fine, I got you. But, I always like chiming in whenever the Toy is mentioned, because it's my favorite delay. It actually bumped a Headrush off my board.

My Carbon Copy's footswitch went about a year after i got it, but then again the footswitch of every single MXR pedal i've ever owned to this day has gone within a year. Oh, actually my blue box has worked perfectly for a long time. But i don't use it all the time. I have had 2 wylde overdrives, i was able to fix one.

I like the memory toy a lot actually. But it came out after the CC.

the memory boy is weird. it's way cool but it's more modulation than delay.

This must be a "new" MXR thing, my mainstay phase is a Phase 45 script, it's older then I am and I have been using it for 18 years, I still can't find a phaser I like better.

But yeah I hear you, I have heard way too much here and there on "new" MXR to really trust them. Even if the new octave and filter look cool.

Also the sound of the CC did nothing for me when it did work. I like Maxon, they might cost a lot but they rule. When my guitarist's CC died I traded her my spare Maxon AD900 [with a few other things for a amp that wasn't getting any love] which is now getting more use then her EHX SMMWH.

AD900's are awesome. My buddy has one and obviously i'd throw my CC into a lake if he told me he'd give me the AD900.

but

i don't have + 300$ to spend on one.

if i did i'd just save until i had enough for a superdelay.

i am eternally jealous.

What I do with any thing I am looking at is just do a saved search in ebay, I get emailed updates every day [that there is anything up], I watch the ones that look promising, and I decide what my price limit is before I bid, I put that as a my max bid and that is it, sure it can take time but that way I pay closer to what I want for what I want.

That's a really good way of going about that. When i begin to have money i think i shall try it.

Just shows how subjective it all is---I sold my CC once I got a 616.

The CC was...'noisier'...but it did sound good; I just prefer the Malekko.


BTW, the first batch of 616s had an incorrect component installed (don't remember if it was a cap or resistor) that made the repeats too grainy. Josh was offering free fixes for the affected pedals.

I had a Melekko 616 for a couple weeks. For me, the noise in the repeats was too much to deal with. As soon as the repeats kicked in and until they trailed off, I could hear a prominent "shhhhhhhhh" sound in the background. It wasn't the sound of analog repeats getting grainy, it was just background noise whenever the repeats were present.

Also, the modulation was almost impossible to make subtle. Either it was wacky over-the-top, or you couldn't tell it was on.

I now have a Subdecay Echobox that I'm very happy with. Even though it's digital, it has an analog-ish type of repeat that gets mushier as it decays. But no hissy background noise.

The Malekko was nicely built, though.

this is what i do too. it's too easy to get in to bidding wars on ebay and end up spending more than you want, so i just set my max bid and walk away. just got a reverberator for £90 doing this.


also i love my carbon copy. it does exactly what i want it to, dark and lush repeats. it also has a pretty nice delay time, like 600ms I think? which is more than the older analog delays and means you can do the long droney delay thing if you want. in my mind the ad900 is the best analog delay, it just sounds so smooth. but it's also quite expensive, whereas the carbon copy is a pretty great price
