Anyone have a finished version of this I could see a guts shot of? I want to do this one as project 2 but I don't want it to turn into the mess my last one was.

No modifications this time...

I just want to see how everyone sets up their wiring and stuff.

I think I will attempt this as my first build!!!

jfrey, I believe there are at least a few completed DEDs at the BYOC forum. Check over there for photos.

Well, I built this today. My second attempt at a pedal and again, it doesn't work

It is much cleaner this time, but still doesn't work. I don't know what the problem is. I'm almost positive everything is set up correctly. I'm not getting any signal though when it is on or off.

I'll draw up a diagram soon.

Why don't you post some pictures of what you've got?

I think I just figured it out actually while I was drawing the diagram. I left out one connection. I'll test it again after I fix that. I'll also post the diagram anyway just so I can get any feedback.

Nope still doesn't work. Light goes on when the input is in and you turn it on, but there is no sound when it is on or off. When it is on and the pot is turned up all the way a hiss comes through but that's it.





The 4 wires on the bottom left are to ground from the in jack, out jack, foot switch, and pot.

Any Ideas?

If you don't get clean signal when the pedal is bypassed, then something is wrong with the footswitch wiring.

Set it up exactly as in the diagram I drew. Based it on the Beavis stomp box wiring diagram. Can you see anything wrong in that diagram I drew that I missed? I drew it from looking at the pedal so everything there is exactly as it is in the pedal.

The switch wiring looks right in your drawing. If that's how it really is, then there must be a mistake with the wiring of at least one of the jacks.

Ok... It is kinda working now... It's really quiet though. There is a sudden jump in volume when the knob is turned up all the way, but it is still fairly quiet.

This is when it is turned on. When the pedal is off either no sound is going through or it's so quiet that I can't hear anything.

When the effect is bypassed, you should be getting plain old guitar sound. It's literally connecting the input jack tip to the output jack tip, so if you're not getting straight guitar signal when bypassed, something is wrong either with the footswitch wiring or the input/output jack wiring.

I'll check it again tonight. Maybe it's a jack. I went over the footswitch wiring like a dozen times so I don't think that's it.

The first thing I check when I build a pedal is the bypass switching. If that's good to go, I know any problem has to be somewhere on the PCB.

So frustrating! I feel like it's so close to being my first successful build!

It even sounds good when the volume is turned up all the way, it's just too quiet, and there's no bypass.
