I can honestly say I didn't know there were STILL Scenesters out there... wtf?!

I mean, maybe if they are all 14-16 or something, and it's just a "highschool thaaaaang"...

I think I take Cuntsville for granted... nowhere else but Birmingham could I have such an active "community" in the state of AL, I'm sure.

I'm so f**king glad the brocore and BAD pseudo-Ska (BRO-SKA  ) and scene bands died off by, like, '07. There's still a lot of "JAMBAAAANDS", but most of them are actually good and consist of nice people... I TOLD YOU, WE HAVE HIPPIES!

Haven't had a REALLY cool band play here in a long while that I can remember, but I can't complain because HSV is thousands of times better than Columbus, MS simply because of the Arts Center, which brings a lot of interesting stuff into HSV. Not to mention, HSV apparently had a very active Punk/Thrash/whatever scene in the 90's... unfortunately, I was not around for that!

Albany, GA. We are home to Confined to the Shadows, Tabitha Hood, and Luke Bryan. Along with a few other bands. SOUTH WEST GA FTW!

Well, if you ever end up in coastal SC, all you need to learn to play is Brown Eyed Girl and Margaritaville and you've got gigs for life.

There was this guy in Sacramento that was a one man band. He had a trailer with a piano that he rigged with foot pedals, and nearly every instrument one could imagine in the trailer, including two saxes and an upright bass.. He would park in front of places downtown on weekends. The piano served double duty as a table, and people would go in the trailer, watch him, make requests, and he would play the songs as if the band was there. Unfortunately, every third request was Margaritaville, and, after the fifth time of the night, he'd just kick people out if they requested it.

This seems to be all we have left:

I wasn't too crazy about their last album, and the last time I saw them, they were down to three members which meant the keyboards got axed, something that really sucks because I think it was a big part of their "sound". Oh well.

THERE'S ALWAYS DAIKAIJU!:

For some reason, I'm not able to think of many more ACTIVE bands (lots of good bands seem to be doing nothing or are completely defunct, which sucks).

We did have a cool Grindcore band at one point, though: http://www.myspace.com/deathcampexperiment

It really sucks that they seem to have vanished. I <3 old skool grind!

EDIT: FUCK PEOPLE WHO DENY THE OPTION TO EMBED VIDEOS!!!

Also, LULZ!!!:

Yup, once you play the 4th ave tav.... all that is there are a few dives [4th is also a dive but a big one], and the Eagles, or do covers in the casinos WHICH I WILL NOT FUCKING DO!

The main prob is the hippies... they turn everywhere into a open mic... and they play for free... man... :grumpy:

Now one might ask then why the fuck am I here... One not to play in the local scene... But it is smack dab between Seattle/Tacoma and Portland, which still have scenes of a sort. And once all this recording shit is done...

new york city is a veritable smörgåsbord (hahahah autocorrect gave me accents!) of talented, original musicians.

long island is a shitshow.

my own flesh and blood can give you an idea of what a long island show is like if it isn't some shitty emo-bullshit-core band.

Yes, yes it is. How awesome of you to notice. :ilf:

And now for more thoughts on Huntsville: Huntsville sucks as far as currently-active *AND* awesome bands goes, but the hippies aren't even the problem... I think most of the cool shows that happen are because we get a lot of out-of-town bands, and I think most of them only come here because they toured with Thomas Function or some shit like that (though this isn't always the case)... still, HSV is way, way better than, like, Madison, Decatur or (*shudder*) Arab, AL...

Most of the hippies here are actually likable (something I never though I would say  )... I think the biggest problem was everyone grew up, went to college and moved on to other things. That, or bands just fell apart for one reason or another.

Bitches here can't seem to keep a band in one piece for more than a couple of years.
