Chumley, you do the think the EHX LPB-2ube is a good value? The description sounds interesting. I couldn't find any demos of it online. I don't like how it says not to open it. What do I do if a tube blows? I dunno maybe I'm better off saving up for the culture vulture.
The wrong side of uranus is really great.
Aussy, yes! I really like the sound of an overloaded pre in general, but some sound really bad. I It's hard to find demos of people abusing their gear and stores don't like it either. Amazon has a good return policy though, haha.
One thing I just thought of trying is to get some ART tube mic pres and overdrive it with a EHX LPB-1. They are super cheap, but I have heard mixed things about how they sound pushed too hard.
StudioShutIn,I listened to the demos of the Vintage Radio Simulator, I like how it sounds and the wood box is cool too!
Thanks all.

PS: This really shitty song uses it for the sloppy and retarded rhythm guitar section throughout:
http://drop.io/everybandiveeverbeenindiedI think that's a decent (but perhaps not perfect) representation of its sound when plugged straight into a soundcard.
