Sounds like a sick deal to me, especially for an American Made. I say pounce!

Buy it!

Then do not follow any of the other TB advice like a Bad Ass II, Big Muff or VT pedal.
(no a ss pedal doesn’t sound just like an all tube amp, and crocodile doesn’t taste just like chicken either)

Ok Nordstrand or Lollor pickups and TI jazz flats I’d go with.

Are you still here? Show me a picture.

Thanks guys, I was asking more or less, if $450 was a good price for an slightly beat up American made Fender from '97...or if I should just leave her be. If I get it I may have to sell some other stuff so I don't feel bad for making a purchase I didn't need. As dev said, mex made Fenders go for not far off from that, just seems like a deal.

I don't have pics of it, but I can give a detailed description of condition (I studied the thing for a couple minutes before even placing a finger to the strings)

The neck is straight, tuners were strong, the headstock has met a few foreign objects but nothing unusual. Some dings/chips on the edges & horn on the front (I'd say 3-8 in all :idk: ), back of the neck just below the headstock has a small 3/4in long "crack" that seems as if it's the finish of the neck and not the wood itself (if it was the wood, a quick sand and fill/seal would fix it right up). Buckle rash directly under the body contour (not 13yrs worth, but a bit), and the poles on the pickups have some rust. I didn't notice any rust on anything else. 2 of the neck screws weren't tightened all the way, & it was missing 2 knobs.

So, pretty good deal to pass up or?

If the crack is in the actually wood and not the finish I would pass. Neck issues are one I will not put up with, I will put up with anything other then that but not neck shit, it is always too much trouble.

Yea, I hear ya! It really seemed more like a cut than a crack almost, & just the placement/positioning of it...makes it seems more of a finish issue. I mean, one of the biggest sell points from foreign fenders to usa ones, are the neck improvements. If the neck is crap then...

Depends on what you mean by foreign, the best fender I've come across of late was a CIJ mustang bass, fit, finish, sound was better then a lot of MIA stuff I've seen in the last few years. I thought the 90's were a better period then the 2000s for MIA personally if that helps at all.

Every '00 MIA fender I've played has seemed kinda...lifeless and dull.

Sorry, I didn't mean the Japanese ones. Those are legit! Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, are what I was referring to.

All the more reason I want this one, it's from '97!

So I ended up not being able to get the jazz bass  . We just had too much shit to bring back with us (in a jetta) , one of which was a baldwin fun machine. I'm going to see if my mother can't be convinced to pick it up for me since she still lives there (in Abilene).

Oh yea, and I lied about it being $450, it was $300
