Nah that would ruin most of the taste of these guys. I like beer a whole lot and have respect in knowing that some of these will completely over power the others. I usually drink lighter tasting/delicate beers first and end with heavy. I'll also never follow anything except lesser IPA's or regular variety beers after a big double or imperial IPA, because my tastebuds will be craving nothing but hops, and a dark malty beer will always seem lacking and rather dull.sonidero wrote:Word, glad to hear some sense... I've found it. I've found my perfect beer. Stout aged in bourbon barrels. I never want it to end.

Re: THE BEER THREAD(?)----->!!!
I just had my first beer.
It was a Sierra Nevada "Ruthless Rye", an IPA.
It was a cool experience. I had it while I ate pizza.
I have no idea how to describe the taste because I don't really know what to compare it to.
But it was good.

Sierra Nevada's pretty good beer.
My taste of beer was a Stonecoast Brewing Company 420 IPA. I'm pretty sure I wasn't a huge fan.

It was a little bitter? I guess. I'm not sure if that's typical of beer or what.
I'm interested in trying more and developing an idea of what kind of beer I like.

You can only drink from these fuckers. And put on a fucking tie.

I don't post pictures of my latest haul but why not post a picture where you can only see 5 of the 12 bottles I bought

Since it was an IPA, then yes, bitter is definitely one of the prevalent tastes in that beer, so you're on the right track. Hops contribute bitterness to beer, and IPAs are usually loaded with hops, that's basically their defining characteristic.PetZounds wrote:It was a little bitter? I guess. I had that once... Well, several times in one night. I recall it being pretty good. Was close to five years ago...D.o.S. wrote:Sierra Nevada's pretty good beer.

A lot of IPAs and pale ales are bitter due to the hop content. Depending on how they add the hops & what hops they add there gets to be a more complex citrus/pine/earthy flavor. They're the best.PetZounds wrote:It was a little bitter? I guess. I'm not sure if that's typical of beer or what.

If you liked Ruthless Rye, try stuff like Stone, Lagunitas, Sweetwater, Bell's, Founders, depending on where you are...
