So I had a gig last night, and got more props for my bass sound than I've ever gotten before. And one guy told me that my rig sounded just like Lemmy's, which is the ultimate fucking compliment. I also chuckled and fought with myself over whether I should tell him that that's because I basically the same rig that Lemmy does (Ric -> Marshall Plexi). I am really digging my tonez lately.

Sadly The Fuzz both groups don't live up to our standards.

Yo, anyone with experience in such matters: Two 1x12's vs One 2x12. Soundwise, how would these be different? Same thing applied to 15's, too.

Yeah, like, how would one big cabinet sound versus two small cabinets with most other factors held constant? I'm very much a n00b when it comes to amps and cabs.

Two smaller cabs will be way easier to move.

hee. from orgy to threeway to one on one (but never with eye contact. THAT would be gay) sex to masturbating and using one's own tears for lube. HAWT.
um. my single 12's are 8 ohms and my 212 cab is 4 ohms (or vice versa. i'm also a n00ber at cabs.) but if i have the power amp turned to where they're as loud as each they sound the same to me. even with the 212's speakers being diagonal and with the 2 12's being stacked they're vertical.
and yah. single's are WAY easier to move/Tetris Into A Vehicle.

I've gigged with both combinations. It's hard to describe why but I felt that the 2x12 cab is easier to hear in a mix. There's probably a scientific explanation that makes me full of shit but the two 1x12s stacked were only as good when I stood right in front of them. They seemed to sound more narrow?
Not sure if that helps but 2x12s in a cab diagonally aligned always crap all over stacked 12s in a cab for me too.

I'm not sure, It might sound better when you are in front of it, but in general the dispersion would be superior with the vertically aligned cabs.
I find that I can definitely hear better when the 12's are vertically aligned...a lot of this is simply related to the fact that it will put one of the drivers closer to your ear level.

Yeah, this is mainly what I'm thinking about. If there's no crazy sound advantage to having multiple speakers in a cab it will most likely be the way I go. Now to figure out what drivers and shiz... but, someone offered me an old 60's Bassman cabinet for trades. A 2x12 I think. I don't know much about it yet, but that might happen.

Why is that?
