Man I haven't had a really good pizza in forever.

Also, I spent my entire tax return on a welding setup :omg:

If you're ever in Knoxville: Harby's. The rats in the walls means it's good!

Also, late on the train here, but I really enjoy this forum and usually search it first when I'm looking for gear advice, y'all good people

Rat approved, eh? I'll mark it on Google maps...

I'm currently sitting in the work truck listening to 3 grown men argue about the moon landing being fake because the bible is based on science and science is all theoretical

I'm not really sure how that all factors in but I'm not a scientician

All the camera footage from rockets is fake because science taught us in school that nothing can escape the atmosphere 'cause it'll just burn up so how can you attach a camera to one

You can do all the math you want but it's all just equations, you can't prove it to me, I have to see it
Also there is definitely not a robot on Mars and the moon might not exist and I don't know what it is, but I can see it so maybe it at least exists

Also Steve Jobs was the best ever at radio technology and the only reason any other phone company has succeeded is because that man is dead and was likely assassinated

It's like I'm living in Jaden Smith's mind

Heya, how's everybody doing here? I realized i haven't checked ILF for more than one month, and i feel bad for this (super busy times here, working a lot, tons of decisions and stuff to chose for the new home - hopefully gonna move by the end of May - and all the coronavirus-related limitations in our area are not helping at all). Anyway i hope you're all fine.

The other reason i've been MIA lately is that i'm spending the very limited spare time (2 hours a week?) recording tons of stuff for the band. I have never been so productive and focused in the last year, we are working on three songs, one is almost completed, and it took less than 2 months, which is a really short period of time considering our standards. :joy:

Ok, i've got a free hour right now, so i'm gonna catch up some of the threads i missed, hopefully i'm gonna have a bit more time to chime in during the next weeks.

Hey, dude! I'm fine, but have also not been particularly active lately. Seems like overall traffic is down on ILF these days? Anyway, that sucks about the virus-situation, but great that you're in a good place creatively, at least. Looking forward to hearing your new stuff! :!!!:

Also,

Yeah... That was sad. They still argue about it on and off.

Has anyone been diagnosed with ADHD? Like a lot of laymen I assumed hyperactivity was the core component of it, but learning more about what it is, I keep thinking, "Hey, that's... me." I know self-diagnosing isn't helpful but obviously I'm not going to be able to see a real psych for a while now (actually, even in normal times I still wasn't able to find one taking new patients), I just wanted to get some perspective from people who actually have it.

Things I have a problem with:
Very low threshold for sensory overload, easily distracted, e.g. if I'm trying to talk to someone in a bar, I keep getting distracted by all the sound and movement around us.
Get extremely irritated with multiple sensory inputs,e.g. two people talking at once
Mood swings
Chronic depression for over 20 years, which I'm reading is a common comorbidity
Restlessness--I've been going on long walks since I was a little kid, because I get this unignorable itch to move
Procrastination-
Can not stay organized for more than a day or two without shit falling apart
Forgetfulness, also since I was little. Everyone in my life gets frustrated with me at some point because of this.

Things I don't have a problem with
Lateness -- I get anxious about arriving on time so will usually arrive early
Appointments/Deadlines -- For the same reason as lateness I'm pretty good about these things.
Interrupting people -- Because I personally get very angry at being interrupted, I'm conscientious about not doing this to other people

Those are just the brief symptoms I read about online, but it's hard getting a first-person perspective on what it's like. I've been considered by people close to me to be an absent-minded, over-sensitive person, and for my whole life I just assumed it was my personality. But it's always caused me problems. I've been to therapists and psychiatrists, none of whom have brought up ADHD, but when I've gone to see them it's always been to focus on the depression, not all the above stuff.

Anyway it would be great to hear from other people who have it, and what it's like, because even when I manage to make an appointment with a psych, they don't take more than 5 minutes listening to me.

We've been trying to figure out how my daughter's brain works and brought her for a developmental evaluation for ADHD, autism, and anxiety. She didn't meet their criteria for those things. We brought her to an occupational therapy and they say she meets the criteria for sensory processing disorder. We brought her to a communication therapist and they said her behavior seems to indicate a form of autism.
Brains are complicated and I've given up on trying to find a label but we're working on finding the techniques we need to help her grow and keep us all as comfortable as possible.

It seems like you've done a lot of work to indentify characteristics in yourself that can use some work and some strengths of your unique brain.
It sucks when you can't find a professional who can just do the job.

Regarding the sensory stuff, an occupational therapist might be the person to talk to. They have the tools for that kind of thing. Also, people in the autistic community have developed lots of ways to work with that kind of experience.
Regarding the restlessness, procrastination, organization, forgetfulness - there might also be tools in the autistic toolbox to work with that. And maybe a cognitive behavioral therapist is the kind of person to talk to.

Thanks for the insight. :hobbes:  Now that we have a lot of time at home, no excuse not to try to look up how other people cope with it sans medication.
