I just used the built in mic on it with the concert setting for the gain, 120 degrees on the directional mic and the lo cut filter off. I adjusted the gain to where it was almost in the red and set it on the wall right in front of the drums about 4 feet away from the kick drum for practices. When I recorded the drone I left it on the same settings and put it about 2 feet in front of my cab.

Holy fuck that Indian track is killer. Can't wait for the album to come out.

When I was younger the first amp I had was a Peavey Express 112 and I could always pick up the big truckers CB traffic when they would pass by the house. I don't know what satellite frequencies are, but I'm wondering if the talking at the beginning of the track I recorded wasn't a movie or something. I know a few people in the area of our space have ham radios and stuff but I'm not sure what the source the talking was on that I picked up somehow. It was definitely creepy as fuck though now when I listen back to it. " God help us all... In the name of the Father... Are we a threat to you?" I wonder what they were talking about.

Yea, I've been using a Shure SM57. Got a good deal on it, gotten some good sounds with it. The main issue I think is with my consistency (or lack of) of set up. I feel like no matter how simple my recording is, its never the same twice. Does it sound reasonable to try turning the mic gain up and giving it some more space from the speakers? I usually keep it 8-10" off the speaker grill with the mic gain a little under halfway up. Should I avoid the center cone of the speaker?

My buddy and I are going to finish up some acoustic covers this weekend. When we started, I got a taste of the condenser mic world. He only has an Audio Technica one, but it's responsiveness to rooms dynamics and stuff is freaking amazing. I'll probably try to scoop up one of those MXL sets, as more mics = more better; right?

Dang, I had no idea that those came with built in mics. Not familiar with the H series, but it's on my radar now (especially since it's looking like a long distance musical collaboration might be in my near future) and my drummer buddy lacks a recording setup.

I just ordered the Scarlett 18i8. 4 mic inputs instead of two and it takes line in 1/4 trs jacks (on the back) as well. Time to sauce a couple more decent condensors. I figure I can run an out from the board I use for PA now and get the vocs and Kick drum into recordings a bit better. Live session album maybe if it works out? Anyways, I love the sound that I've gotten from the 2i2 and if I can get it sounding as good with this thing, the 2i2 will be available to you guys
