Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I did another shout out on the band page. Hope that helps. Beyond you being awesome for doing this, THE PEDAL KICKS ASS! I'm amazed it has not broken big yet like the Pharaoh or other pedals that have become go to recommendations. It's like a well kept local secret. I know that pretty much everyone I have talked to who has played it, has one, or at least a version of it. I might be able to get a couple more entrys for myself. we'll see how my continued cab transactions go.
I got the butcher! D, he has a couple more, all in used but fair shape. Digging it so far and I'm not sure if I want to swap out the speakers for some nice stuff I've been hoarding. Sounds pretty good as is. Hopefully tonight the Sunn 412LH is sold. That things awesome but we're trying to reduce the van load and it is huge for a 4x12.

You're still a youngin. I'm always on the lookout for a 78 Les Paul Custom so I can have one in my birth year.deathmonkey wrote:I'm old as shit.
That episode is the shit. Have you seen the one where Bubbles dresses up as the Green Bastard and tries to wrestle everyone in the park? I love that fucking show. I haven't forgotten about donating. I stretched myself pretty thin and I'm waiting until I get paid on the 2nd so I can donate to it. My buddy just came back from Korea and he married a woman from the Phillipines and her family lost everything over there. I'm not expecting to win shit (although rocking an Ape Blaster would be bad as fuck since I just cleared enough space on my board for one) I just wanna help out since it kinda hit close to home for me.D-Day wrote:SONEX! John I saw those Butcher cabs and almost bought 'em on principle but seven 4x12's would be a bit much. Still, their existence at that price goes a long way toward backing up all of my usual cabinet rantings.
Today I saw an episode of Trailer Park Boys called "Conky". Warmed my heart![]()
But really I am in here to try to gather ideas about how I can pump up the jam on my hurricane relief raffle. Things started off with a bang but have slowed down. I'm trying to crank up the entries now that we've begun the final week. Any suggestions? I've been doing the (stupidly) obvious like spamming facebook and the three forums I ever go to but what else can I do? I thought perhaps I should join talkbass or the gear page but I'd feel like a jerk since I'm not interested in joining those communities for any other reason. I'm kinda stumped here.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
maybe you could get a few other pedal builders to mention it or link to it on their websites or Facebook. i bet black arts mark could get it some attention and jack deville too. i bet most smaller builders would be down to help promote the charity, particularly those dudes who you're already friends with. it'd be good promotion for the pedal too.D-Day wrote:SONEX! At first Jack DeVille was the only one who posted in the thread. Then I got a couple other guys to respond. I'll bump it again, but don't expect too much from most of those guys.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
People have been bringing up RATs into fuzzes a lot lately, so I played around with some different combinations and wrote a song around the tones. RAT into a Pharaoh and RAT into a Meathead Dark clone, along with RAT on bass. I liked it, tightened everything up enough to get some nice palm muting and made it a little meaner sounding. I'm really loving my Wizard and Cthulhu best for fuzzes lately though, so I'm itching to try a similar setup with Nick's Volt Thrower pedal in place of the RAT, when I get the Dunwich tourbox.

Dude, I cant fucking wait for Nicks VT. He makes it sound like he's pretty much addressed the things I don't like about rats while building on the things I do.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Yeah, I've been itching for one since he first mentioned the design specs of it to me. I really love the tone of a RAT on bass, but it's just got so much low end cut. I've played around with different clones and clean blending with mine. I can get it to sound good, but when I compare it to other pedals it's apparent how much heavier it can sound, but other pedals just can't seem to get that same...meanness. My Joyo Ultimate Drive goes WAY deeper and sounds nice and dirty, but there's a certain edge the RAT has that nothing else seems to and I love it.AxAxSxS wrote:Dude, I cant fucking wait for Nicks VT. Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Ruetz mod it. I did that to mine when I played bass and stacking it into a Pharaoh gave me the biggest tones. Didn't notice any low end loss after doing the mod.Corey Y wrote:Yeah, I've been itching for one since he first mentioned the design specs of it to me. You should try the meathead maxxed into the rat with gain max filter full ccw and volume max GUH!!! Thats my main dirt tone right now. I am also itching hard for a volt thrower.....Corey Y wrote:People have been bringing up RATs into fuzzes a lot lately, so I played around with some different combinations and wrote a song around the tones. BTW love the tones and riffs in that track!!! If you doubled the speed you could convince me it was converge!
Pharaoh size enclosure is standard apparently.AxAxSxS wrote:I just hope it ends up in a smaller enclosure than the WIzard fuzz, that things HUGE! Worth the real estate but HUGE!

The Catlinbread delays have trails (maybe not the first one). I'm going to be picking up a Flashback - small footprint, trails, and has some decent analog sounding modes. Not sure about the oscillation though.Harry_Manback wrote:Just donated. Sorry I missed this earlier. Those Sonex are sweet!
Dudes, need input - good standard sized delay with trails? Prefer analog if possible, or darker voiced and oscillation. Love my Carbon Copy but miss the trails. Kinda holding out for the Minifooger but might pull the trigger on something smaller to stay with my PT Mini.
Other things I should've quoted but didn't:
Congrats on the band crohny.
That silverburst Sonex is sex.
I need to donate to Darren's charity raffle as well. Very cool of you to do that, and I hope it's a big success
