To be quite honest, although it's not the same thing, the Reverend bass contour knob does what many want a coil split or tap to do, but without all the annoyances that come along with it. I think it's a more effective way to clean up the sound, and it has a much greater range. I also like parallel switches, but that's definitely a more 'out there' tone. I have yet to hear a coil split or tapped sound that in any way is impressive. I don't know how many times I've heard demos of guitars where the guitarist switches to split sounds and everything goes to shit. Playing it in person is not so bad because the dynamics change, but recording it is horrible.

More review after recording with the EGC again last night- I've never had a guitar that I've been so easily able to pull a harmonic out of. Did a pluck harmonic on the 12 fret of the D string and just let it ring out for part of the riff I was recording, and each and every time it was effortless.

The T-40 is an exception to this. I have come to love the single coil sound.

EGC #905 is in, and pairs well with #956.

EGC Standard, Denison profile polished neck, powder coated fretboard, wood-bodied, with humbuckers.
