I just listened to your clip and to throw my opinion in the ring: I liked the cleans on the second better (emperor?) but the distortion on the first better. The distortion on the first had a much more burly feeling to it that sounded thicker while the second was much more narrow and cutting. Not bad but less thick.
Interesting deduction. Thanks! I value your input!

And for the cheap cabs. The dude from rosetta posted on his blog that he really likes crate cabs, I forget from when though. He changed the grill and put a sunn badge on it so that he can laugh as people compliment his sunn when underneath it is a crate. For bass cabs I have a gallien kruger 2x10 goldline from a few years ago. The speakers in it are not so hot but the sturdiness of the cab is solid and the dimension are right in a sweetspot that if I shopped around for the right speakers it would be an awesome 2x10. I haven't switched them out because I haven't played bass in a while but I have hung onto the cab just in case. If you can find one it should be just around a 100 bucks.
Here is the rosetta post:

Matt is a good dude. He turned me on to my latest NGD. I just brought this guy home Friday.
I got to crank my setup with this thing Yesterday at practice. I absolutely love this guitar. Such a mean bite.

I love those Sonex LPs.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to add one to my collection, along with a tele, and a firebird, and a hollowbody, etc, etc.

I think the guy with the butcher cabs might be a CraigsFail. He's relisted them but has not responded to either of the emails I sent, there's no way to contact him other than the Craigs email. Kinda frustrating haha.

Yeah man! I am so pumped on it. I believe (If i am reading the serial correctly) that it is a 1982, almost as old as me. Thing doesn't even have belt rash. Theres a bunch of notes (like tune from LtoH E-A-D-G-B-E) in the case that make me think some kid bought it for guitar lessons and took them for a few weeks before abandoning them. For a 31 year old guitar, It's immaculate.
They are heavy. I should weigh it, but yeah, they are about as thin as an SG and weigh about what a les paul does. they break every rule of how to make a guitar.... i mean the thing is basically an MDF guitar molded around a slab of mahogany to screw the neck into. Dude from rosetta and I started talking about them and he was dead on with the description. The body adds so much crazy bass, but the pickups in the deluxe model are really high and chirpy. It creates this Mid range, heavy as shit tone.
I even had the thing tuned to B, and it held tuning with 10-46s on the guitar.
Here's a whole bunch of info:

when i saw the silverburst pop up for like halfish what i see them on ebay

, i just jumped on it. Silverbursts are just completely the sex.
