What amp is it?

It's a Laney AOR. It doesn't have a fixed bias AFAIK, but I'm not super familiar with the power section anyway.

That amp is fixed bias. Even if you can adjust the bias fixed refers to the bias scheme rather than if it's adjustable or not

That would be the emperor, I felt that one was quieter (I had to turn the amp up to get the same volume) and it had more upper mids which made it honky by comparison. It was recorded on a shitty digital camcorder which isn't the best representation.

I was back in the studio today with my band. I spent the day recording the other guitarists parts and we got most of the way done. All his clean parts and semi dirty parts are all finished. Everything was done through the dual showman into the emperor. I had five mics up but ended up only really using a mix of three.

Yeah I heard when you did that, It sounded more distinct with the second cab, clearer. Of course, camcorder....

I'm pretty sure that you know what sounds better and would work better for you. Sounds like you preferred the Matamp, So get the MAtamp!

I'm a bit jealous of that recording setup. We're still saving up to go into the studio, but thats taking a long time.

I could see that, the emperor cuts better but isn't as full or billow like the Matamp which might be why I prefer it. The camcorder didn't really capture the low end at all which is where the Matamp shines.

And there's no go getting the Matamp! It's all ready mine!

Sounds like a win/win situation.

Thanks on the compliments guys. I'm kinda spoiled in that I work at the studio part time and the studio owner is letting my band record for free in the off time. It benefits him though because I get better at the job and learn the gear better. I am extra spoiled though because of the cool gear he has and I get to play with. The three mics I used for most of the day were the two in the foreground which are a neumann u67 and a rca 77dx and the one on the left stand which is a 421.

I understand the financial hurt ax. We probably wouldn't be recording in the studio if I didn't work their. The amount of money we would need to spend plus the time would be impossible. We have to record piecemeal but it has been working out so far.

Skip, are you debating on which one would fit in your rig better?
