I'm going to have to go kick someone at USPS' ass. You've got the nerve to send me an email to rate my experience before I even get to talk to someone? Fuckk off.

IMO the problem with modern prog compared to the old-school variety is that old-school prog wanted to, er, "expand your mind"...folks literally were concerned with sound as a mode of consciousness alteration. modern prog just wants to impress you with twiddly instrumental bits.
I couldn't have said it better..
But, seriously...They really don't make music like they used to...although there are some exceptions...exceptions that make me feel like a total hipster
ugh..

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
i have had a pretty epic headache for most of the day that has prevented me from accomplishing anything because i 'wanted to wait until it went away.' well, it's 8pm and all the shit i put off still needs to get done so i'm just going to drink some coffee and suffer through it. ugh.
and i'm supposed to have some people over for my birthday tomorrow, but i honestly don't want anyone over.
a few of my friends took the day off of work a while ago so i would feel like an asshole if i told them i didn't want to do anything.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
How come whenever I try to do something mildly technical and handyman-ish I get caught up on something really stupid like a screw that won't come out? I've probably spent over an hour and a half over three days trying to get this rubber foot thingy off my pedal so I can velcro it down. The other three came out just fine. At this point, I've ripped the rubber foot off and am just tearing away at the screw. I've made progress in the fact that it now actually turns, however it isn't coming out at all. Now, to top it all off, there's suddenly something clinking around in there. I plugged it in and it lights up, I was just too lazy to turn my amp on to check if it still works(which I'm sure it does). Gah, why does the simplest stuff always seem so difficult for me?!?!?!?!?!

Classy. You use the ol twist n tug?
What was the presentation on?
Snip, the clinking might just be the ground wire.
I know EHX screws theirs to the pedal feet screws....

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
well, i've had a lovely fucking day. yesterday somebody called saying they wanted to talk to me about a desktop publishing position, which is the first bite i've gotten for work for weeks...i tried all day to ring back but couldn't reach him.
then i started googling my surname wondering what would come up, having thought of it because of the talk of internets-ruining-peoples'-lives. foolishly, i took it the one step farther of googling my 2nd wife to see if she was still using my name. i found her post-married name, which i'd never seen, and discovered that she (the person from whom i learned my computer skills) has gone on to an illustrious career in our field--she was the technical documentation manager at eBay a little while back, and has run courses at major corporations and shit--while i've basically gone round in circles doing the same old shit because i never had the space to learn anything new. and she was the love of my life, too, before i blew everything and we totally broke each other's hearts. i have never recovered from that, and i don't think i ever will. she's still in the Bay Area, too. just to make it that much nicer. that's why i can't live in San Francisco any more...the whole city is shot through with memories of when we lived there
and my partner, who to be fair stayed home because she felt sick today, doesn't want to get up to talk with me about how i feel. i'm really getting fucking tired of her. why is it that after a certain number of years women assume that they can totally take men for granted and they don't have to try to act like they care, to appear attractive, or to respect their partner? i'm fifty-four years old, and i'm thinking very seriously about whether i want to spend the rest of my life with someone who can--or perhaps more accurately is willing to--only give me about 40% of what i need.

Some of those screws have nuts and maybe even washers in there. I found that out with my Fender cheap-o Chorus.. the screws on the bottom don't open it up, they hold the PCB down. I proceeded to lose all the nuts and washers to hold the PCB in place.

Ground wire sounds likely. It's a Sovtek Big Muff Pi. I was trying to avoid opening the thing up, but I might as well. Got to get ready for work anyway, so I'll dick around with it some more tomorrow. *sigh*
