Me too but NOPE. Still problems. Next time it's going to Brian to be fixed once and for all.
But hay I did just get my Warmoth neck!
TM-neck.jpg
Hell yeah, Brian will square it away. I wish I was even close to his level RE:fixing amps.
Both the amps I brought to him came back perfect and judging from the bags of replaced parts he handed me, he got into things I would not have even thought to look at.
Speaking of amp fixing, has anyone helped out the Pope with his Russian death box?
D-Day wrote:Thanks for the neck compliments dudes! I sold off a bunch of videogames (I used to own an import shop around the turn of the century) and was sitting on dough for a minute there so I went all out with the Warmoth. I often get uncontainable boners when I see those jazz basses with black blocks so I knew my TM would need some black blocks in vintage finished maple. I'm so happy. If it plays half as good as it looks I'll be in 25.5 heaven
While I've got you guys here I wanted to mention that I'll be raffling off a special Ape Blaster for hurricane relief. Shit is fucked up down there and I want to help. I'm trying to have the web page up today. I'll return with a link.
Looks like the one I used on my Strata 12
I'll be keeping an eye out for that raffle. kinda sucking financially but always try to help out pedal disaster relief.

Our practice space is so loud though that the signal clipped a little bit but it picked up everything clearly and the low end was nice and fat and the cymbals cut through but were not harsh. Cons: The video quality is supposed to be 1080i but its kinda shitty and the files are all Quicktime based and can't be used with windows movie maker. When recording video, you are only able to record 17 minutes before the included 2 gig card fills up. I put a 4gig card in it and got 35 minutes worth. When recording audio only you can get about 2 hours worth on it though. The biggest bitch on this thing though is the battery life. I recorded about 15 minutes worth of audio, listened back to it two or three times and then had it connected to my computer for about 15 minutes and the batteries died. Fucking sucks. I don't know if I'll end up keeping it or not but it did work pretty well for recording audio for practices. I might take it back and swap it for an audio only recorder or maybe one of those Tascam video recorders.
Just thought I'd post my findings in case any of you guys were thinking about picking one up.
I thought I remember you buying it already, so ignore my comment if you did. The Q3HD might have been better for you, then, because you can power it with a DC plug. I'm not sure whether the video formats are the same.
I'll definitely be picking up something like the Q3HD because of how handy they are, but it doesn't compare to a proper HD video camera and a couple of dedicated microphones into a good quality preamp.
Grrface wrote:Most people hate the sound of their voice. The inside of your head reverberates or something so you sound bassier. It's one of those weird things.
Even worse? Watch video of yourself. I was interviewed a while back, and I couldn't make it more than a minute into watching the interview.
I kind of actually like hearing and seeing myself on video. It's nice to know what everyone sees, because our own perceptions are usually rather warped. Whenever I "sang" in my old band Poor Reeves, I usually screamed in a weird kind of way, so you couldn't tell it was me. When I sang when I studied Sound Engineering in college, that was difficult because it was studio quality recording and I was trying to sing properly, and I'm not the best.
chillerthanmost wrote:Doesn't almost everyone hate their voice recorded? It's easily the most uncomfortable part of mixing/editing when recording with the band for me. I feel like I let everyone down or ruined what could had been decent if I sounded better, haha. I love being a three piece but I still haven't adjusted to enjoying the sound of my own voice on record.
I also picture everyone by their avatar, even though I look nothing like the handsome Mr. Bill Murray. I sometimes wonder meeting up with a few members and how I would look for their avatar picture when looking out for them if I've never seen them before. I'd have to ask a secret question to verify they are who they say they are because THEY ARE NOT THEIR AVATAR IN REAL LIFE!
Yeah, I mean, I love boobs and everything, but I don't talk about them all the time or anything. I'm usually quite sensitive about that kind of thing, because I don't want to give the impression that I see women as objects, but I know who I am and I know that it's all done in jest. I'm just messing about. My avatar is not a reflection of me in any way, even if I do like boobs and black and white photography.
Actually, though, the original photo that was cropped due to sizing issues was about loving music, and I do love music.

While your voice isn't very bass heavy I couldn't see you getting mixed up for a female. But the frequency filtering of most commercial phones makes people sound very different so who knows.
My voice changes, normally its not very bass heavy unless I try. Thanks to the metal plate making up half my sinuses and constantly being congested I feel like my voice is more nasally than it used to be. But get a couple brews in me, or some mixed greens and my voice drops down and the bass comes in, its the weirdest thing but people have been telling me for years that they know I'm inebriated when I start sounding just like Patrick Warburton
I have sinus problems as well and always sound nasally, especially when I try to sing, or maybe it's just more apparent then. I have a decent voice, but that constant congestion in my head ruins it.

Here's a clip from practice last night. Don't pay any attention to the keyboards in there. We've been trying out a new guy and all he's done the past two practices is make annoying pan flute farty noises that fuck with the drummer.

That's a solid practice recording, you can hear everything pretty clearly. I definitely have studio recorded 7"s and tapes that have less audio fidelity, but that's not really saying anything lol. Good song too, I like the main riffs.

New one. That guy bailed and hasn't talked to any of us since.

Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with that little Zoom recorder. I just wish it would work with Windows Movie Maker though. That's really my only gripe with it. I've definitely got some shitty sounding records too. Some of them the sound fits and some it just sounds like shit. The guys in the band mentioned just recording takes in the space and releasing that but I dunno. I kinda feel like we owe it to ourselves to go in a studio and put in the work to get it sounding as perfect as we can.

Fantastic recording, Clifton. I dig everything about that song, especially the groovy breakdown. It is awesome, and is exactly the type of music I love listening to and want to perform with a band. Everything is clear, even the bass. Each individual bass note is transparent and cutting. I like that. Your vocals are on the money, too. I cannot fault anything and have nothing critical or analytical to offer. The synth didn't bother me either.

Thanks man. I appreciate it. I don't mind doing backups or anything, but I really hate doing the majority of the vocals. Matt, the guitarist does vocals on one of the other songs but other than that I got stuck doing them all since I can halfass multitask by singing and playing guitar at the same time. Getting someone else that would be able to work with our schedules and not be a doucher is pretty damn impossible otherwise I'd be all about it. The bass tone on the recording is huge. He hooked that Pharaoh up and played with it for about 5 minutes before we recorded that. Sounds great. The Ritual > Revelation that I run just seems to fit perfectly with that bass tone to me.

I've had some practice room recordings that sounded good enough for a demo, but I can't justify actually releasing anything like that. Some bands can get away with it, depending on the kind of sound they usually go for. I've heard a lot of good practice/jam recordings on forums with those Zoom recorders, I'm tempted to get one just to avoid hauling my recording rig across town to record practices every once in a while.
Also, I can't really pick out the keyboards anyway. Probably just because I haven't heard the song before WITHOUT them, they're not overpowering and there's a lot of low end room sound. I'm just listening on my computer at work though, listening on my mixing monitors at home it might be more apparent.

That's why I picked one of these up. I got tired of hauling my 16 track, monitors, and a bunch of mics and stands back and forth and then spending time dumping tracks into my computer. Took all of 3 minutes to hook this up and copy this over to the comp.

You sir, are mistaken. Same sex marriage has been kosher as of Jan. 1 2013. The jig is up Evan, we know what you are up to :surprise:
My boyfriend and I need to tie some loose ends up before we get hitched. Plus I need to get my ass back on the eliptical machine so I can fit in my wedding dress.
Take a look at my eyebrows, and you'll instantly know that I'm a girly mon even though I don't act like it(well most of the time.) I hate the man made laws of gender identity and how we should behave.

Bahahaha no I understand what you mean. I'm insecure about my voice too. I actually sang all through high school in an a Capella group and was always weirded out by recordings of my performances.

Well shit, MD actually did something right for once..... They're also extremely close to legalizing the mary jane as well. If it wasn't for their ridiculous taxes, anti-gun laws, and anti-self defense laws (you get in more trouble for defending yourself than for attacking someone), I might consider moving there. As of right now though I value the ability to defend my family and myself if need be. Where I am as soon as your body is 51% inside my house with the intent to do harm I am 100% legally allowed to kill you any way I need to, with what ever I can get my hands on.

I played bass out of 12's last night and it ruled. I'm now tossing the idea of a bass 6x12 a little more seriously.
