I am cordially inviting my favorite ILF members to stay at my place if they every make it to Halifax (for whatever dumb reason).

Yo peeps, quick questions because I can't seem to get a straight answer off google searches.

I'm looking at a amp (Ampeg SVT-200T), solid-state, 350w at 4 ohms. I want to check it out to make sure it works and the only cab I have right now is in my combo. The amp in my combo is 140w, not sure about the speaker (can't check it's power rating). If I play the 350w amp through this speaker at low-moderate volume, do I risk seriously damaging the speaker? I'm not looking to play through it all the time, just for 5-15 minutes to make sure the amp is what I want, then I'll get a proper cab later on.

& if anyone has opinions on the amp, they'd be much appreciated

Which combo?

It's an old Hartke 1415. Single 15" speaker.

The watts seem fine.......but I'm really worried that speaker in the combo amp is only 8ohms. You don't want to be running 4ohms into 8ohms.

The output on my combo says 4ohm. & the ampeg has an 8ohm out I could use just in case.

Hartke's page says that the amp does 140 watts @ 4 ohms, so at least that shouldn't be an issue. I'd guess that as long as you don't crank the amp up, it'll be OK. How are you going to connect it?

The speaker cable on the combo is detachable so just using that, I suppose.

Muff derivative pedals....I need to ask a hopefully not too annoying question

I have owned -
Green Russian (looked great, killed by itself, did nothing in the mix)
Wren and Cuff TFR (Sounded awesome. same problem as the Green Russ)
Bluebeard (Great pedal but not as dirty as the green russian to my ears)
Grey Stache (Dig Fuzzrocious stuff but never bonded with the tone)
Pickle Pie B (Clean blend just never makes me happy)
Baby Thundaa (The best live pedal I found)

Here's the problem -

I used to have a Baby Thundaa to play certain stuff live with almost all of the settings set minimal and tone blast on to really grind the mids through. It's the best in the mix muff pedal I've tried but even with the settings set low, I only had to get a brighter sounding room and it would be too bright to use. I sold it but really need a pedal that can cop that tone. My band has had to drop a song from our set because it sounds like shit with the replacement pedal I got.

So here's my need -

1) A dirty nasty green Russian muff tone
2) No clean blend
3) Don't give me scooped mids
4) Don't give me flat mids
5) Give me mids control to push to face melting when I need it and back it off if I'm playing a shitty room.

Thoughts? Tips? Jokes?

If its the muff design that is killing me, what are the alternatives? It needs to be dirty, grindy, doomy and aggressive - but not synthy or glitchy.

Solidstate amps don't work that way silly goose.

I've really enjoyed my EQD Hoof Fuzz, its the only Muff I've been happy gigging with, though I think I've only tried the W&C TFR, PPB, Swollen Pickle and Bass Big Muff.

Shitty audio quality and the performance is a little rough (was working off very little sleep) but here is me using it live. The settings used are pretty tame.

yah. Hoof seems TITS, i kinda hate muffs but the Pickle Pie B is the only one i've ever owned that i liked how it sounded at home and live whilst playing with other peoples.
