No. I'm being fucking serious. MSU's about to get real. Ignorance led to slavery. We don't have that excuse anymore. Most of us are educated now (I mean the US). The ignorance is mostly gone. Sure there's still some ignorant white assholes out there. I live in Louisiana. I know they exist. But those people are dwindling. They're dying off. Becoming relics. Three will die and only young person will replace them. The number of bigots get smaller But hate. Hate is strong. More and more people are learning to hate white people. Not because of shit that was done to them. Not because shit the white kid they hate did to others. Not even shit that their parents did. Old shit. Two to three generations back. Young people are learning to hate off of stories that the people they are hating weren't even players in.

In marriage counseling, you have to GET OVER IT. If one person is bringing up something from the past over and over again, the marriage won't survive. If you can't get over it, or if things can't be made whole again, divorce is inevitable. The same holds true to ANY mediation. If one side can't get over something, things won't get better. Christian or not, forgiving is the only way to be brought back together. MLKjr's dream was for kids of all colors to be playing together. Not for white kids to be eternally apologizing to black kids. It's not trivializing the matter. It's having an understanding for psychology and the way people work and knowing that the only way racism will truly die is not just to get rid of all the bigots but also for the people who didn't even live in those times to, yes, get over it.

I was raised by a single white mother who worked her way through college to find herself in a flooded job market. I know plenty about being poor. Everything I have I worked for, and I haven't had much for very long.

And, I NEVER said "white privilege." I said "position of privilege" based on the typically young-person's notion of racial inequity being a thing of the past, as alluded to in MSUsousaphone's original post.

I've never had to play the race card and I would never consider it. Have I been discriminated against? Sure. For being too white for some, too black for others. Does it bum me out? No. Most have had it WAY worse then me. I've always lived in the more liberal areas of the US, so I haven't had to live in fear. If I've been at any major disadvantage, I didn't notice it. However life ain't all about me me meeee, my man. Maybe I'm crazy, but I actually care about what happens to OTHER PEOPLE. It's easy to do if you take the chip off your shoulder for a minute and stop feeling sorry for yourself.

I know when my drunk PC college slacktavist friend (not the black one) is getting into shit that embarrasses us, I like it best when the situation is dropped. Because we didn't do it. And that's how this is. After a certain point, it gets tiring catching shit and having to tip toe because of stuff that was done 50 years ago but people I didn't even know.

And I'm able to take the time to explain myself and not lose my cool because I'm used to working with schizophrenic homeless guys who Behndy would say have a touch of downs. I deal with people with chips on their shoulders, looking for people to take their shit out on. Honestly, bro, you've got one on your's.
