So I’m seeing a consensus forming that YYZ is the best song on Moving Pictures.

I get you. I don’t listen to them anymore but I was that D&D playing, Rush listening teen geek (I howled at the flashback scene in SLC Punk), so nostalgia sometimes grabs me in to an article, like the one on best song on each album that drove that post.

YYZ is not the best song on the record. Rush are great.

i've always said that i might have liked Rush if Geddy didn't sound like he was on helium. i'm weird that way...if i don't like the singer and there's a lot of singing, i can't stand it no matter how great the playing might be. this is true for me of everyone from the MC5 to Led Zeppelin to The Pop Group, Lush, Sonic Youth, and ...Trail of Dead. for me, having a bad singer is just as crippling as having an uncoordinated drummer.

I totally agree on the principle, just not on this specific example. A lot of bands I might otherwise like have a singer I just can't get behind and it kills it.
