No, but there are still plenty of people alive who lived with segregation. Separate schools, water fountains, all that shit. We are a LONG way from being able to "drop the whole subject." Honestly, to even mention that makes you sound a bit dim. "Awareness of racial inequality is, like, such a hassle!" OK...

naw. he just means it gets blown out of proportion sometimes i think? and some people do. like.... Spike Lee trying to say how often people get to drop a niacuh. in the same sentence he said he hadna seen Django.

but racial talk always gets all side tracky and silly online.

i want to hear more Companion Cube Humpy Action talk.

DO IT.

Spike Lee is Spike Lee. He is not representative of all black people, or of all anti-racist people, or of anyone really except Spike Lee.

I have just heard the arguement "get over it" from people who have had it easy, too many damn times. I am mixed race so some folks think they can get away with some pretty bogus talk. And it's lazy and short-sighted to think that all it takes is time to heal the wounds of slavery, segregation, and bigotry.

For the record, I don't think that picture or scenario is racist. Just uncomfortable.

jia. i'm lily white as lily white gets, but i've had my ass jumped and put in the hospital over just being white.

i would never say racism doesn't exist, but i think sometimes people make a bigger thing out of CERTAIN THINGS than they really need to be?

but all that shit's so personal that after some very obvious lines it's weird to discuss.

So I can't look at a black chick in bondage because of shit people my grandparent's age did? Fuck you for trying to ruin my fetish. :animal:

But seriously, too many people in my generation act like they were actually living in those times. Sorry, I had no clue you were in your 60's. Figure most people on here are younger.

Read my post above, I don't think the picture or your confusing boner is racist. I just think "get over it" is spoken from a position of privilege. Sorry you are surrounded by PC college slacktivists on one side and violent ignorant negroes on the other, but don't base your opinion of strangers on the experiences you've had in your one single solitary incomplete life.

No I am not in my 60's. I am 37. But you said nobody alive today lived during slavery, as if the Emancipation Proclamation marked the End Of Racism In America. Nigga please.

Hey hey hey. My best PC college slacktivist is black. :)*

You think it's easy? Having human features on a cat face.

Shit.

So let's clarify, as you're just dipping in here with a brief and combative comment... do you endorse the notion of "get over it, slavery was sooo long ago?"

MSUsousaphone wrote:But really. I'm sorry you had to live through this.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Damn the internet and its facelessness!
If serious, hey it's not about me or my experiences, it's about the people who really had to suffer being acknowledged and not swept under the carpet by present and future generations of people of ALL races, who by virtue of their age did not have to see first-hand what segregation is like.
If sarcastic, bite me. Somebody had to live through it, and many are still dealing with its echoes. Trivializing the matter is pretty sad.

Well MSUousaphone, I see you edited your post while I was replying. Regret or recalcitrance?

Dubkitty, do you really not comprehend how some of us are more privileged than others? Hell this is a forum populated by people with dozens of pedals worth more than many people earn in a month. Get real.

I swear, gun appreciation month and MLK day are getting the caucasians all riled up.

and as someone who grew up white and damned likely poorer than you, and worked shit blue-collar jobs half of his life (i'm 56), i don't buy the precious little notion of "white privilege." take your collegiate guilt trip and stuff it in your fisting port.
