OK. I think so. Do I have to move up near Halifax?

warwick.hoy wrote:CKS strings are the shiznit. But I prefer a bright tone out of my Warwick. I dig most is the balanced tension and the improved playability of a proper gauge; especially being tuned down a whole step. They are good answer to the two piece bridge setup; that requires taperwound strings. String selection in this town blows. So I'm happy to have been able to find a string that fits all my criteria. I've had the same set on my bass for over 6 months and they still sound amazing.
I've been meaning to order a set of balanced Circle Ks for my Sting Ray, so that I might have a less flabby B.
I keep going back on forth between the 130 set and 136 set, though.

You don't
have to. But think of all the coffee dates if you did.
We could put our money together and buy custom instruments.

I took out the Bartolini preamp it comes standard with and made it a passive instrument. I prefer woody tone to hyped boost. I made the pickguard myself, not to protect from picking but to cover the wounds it had on the top from the previous owner whom I can only assume had the gnarliest fingernails on earth and a bad habit of popping sloppily.
That is goddamn delicious

35" scale?
What are the wood combos?

i really need a more balanced set for the Jazz Bass. the E string seems floopy even with the heaviest low string i could find in the shops in Santa Cruz as far as affordable flatwound sets (the fretless demands flats) which was Rotosound Mediums.

I really haven't strayed very far from DR. I really need to try more strings, but it takes me a while to change them (Lazy I guess)...
I've never played any expensive basses to really know a difference. But, if I had the money I love to experiment.

What was the gauge on the E string?

.105 or .110, i think. probably .105 because they were the medium "Jazz Bass" strings.

Here ya go, .115 is pretty heavy if you're in standard tuning.

Coffee dates are nice, but I don't have any money to speak of.

I agree, those should be good without any flab.
.115 is good tension as well.

I love CKS. Longest lasting strings I've ever owned. I was changing my DRs monthly. Hate flats.

35", lacewood top, thin maple slice under that and back is mahogany. Neck is 4 pieces of maple with 3 stringers of mahogany and purpleheart. Fretboard is wenge and so is the pickguard, though not of the same vintage. Face of headstock is I dunno what, maybe rosewood? If I had it custom made I think I would have picked a different top wood visually speaking, but I can't say it's doing anything wrong tonally, if such things really make a difference. I don't play it as much as I'd like since I've been immersed in guitar and drums lately, but here are some old recordings of it in action:
