Also, we are playing with Church of Misery on Sunday. Did I already mention that? Whatever, I am incredibly pumped about it. When I moved to Colorado, the main riff of "El Padrino" kicked in right as I descended into the valley and saw my new home. When they play that live, I am going to lose my mind. Shit yeah.

Dude, that is killer, hope you have a blast at that show! Master of Brutality was one of my instant favorite albums when I came out, it would be awesome to play with them.emptyparadigm wrote:Also, we are playing with Church of Misery on Sunday. YOOOOU should check out the live album from the classic sepultura lineup Beyond A Pale Grey Sky. It's about 65,000,000,000,000 times better than the studio versions of their songs--I hate 90's metal production, which carried over into all those Lamb of God/Shadow's Fall/God Forbid/Killswitch Engage bands that were absolutely massive in New England for a while.
I remember Slayer live being completely exhausting. And I wasn't moshing or even headbanging, really.
Yeah, first time I saw slayer I though, "I'll be awesome, and go front row, with these skulletted biker dudes, headbutting each other" (I was 18, probably 60kg wet). I got my head cut off with sheer decibel brutality, I can still hear it destroying my hearing as I type this, and then at some point Tom pitched his bourbon and coke into the crowd. Mother fucker heat-seaked its way into my left eye, leaving me blind and deaf, and very vulnerable in the pit...surrounded by the skulleted biker dudes.
I somehow managed to not get beat on or raped.
Awesome night.
Most tiring shit ever award goes to the brutal October night I got obliterated and saw Machine Head at the Arena (or what used to be the Arena). It was so packed in there, and so fucking hot and humid, there were sweat puddles on the ground, and the room was evaporating the moisture out of the air and raining all that sweat and what not back down on the crowd. My mate threw from heat exhaustion and way too much bourbon, and Machine Head would NOT GET OFF THE FUCKING STAGE!
I kinda liked the volume swell stuff Baroness did on their last tour, as its based off of the Red album stuff like Wailing Winter Wind, and it tied the Blue and Red stuff together nicely, I thought anyways.Wes Mantooth wrote: Saw Meshuggah a couple of years ago with Decapitated and weirdly, Baroness. Decapitated was extremely tight but I hated their live guitar sound, but it works for their style and it was so dope to see one of the first death metal bands I got into live. Baroness' set was really cool but a lot of the fans hated them for making 'whale noises' (was just some improvised drone really) in between songs![]()
Meshuggah was incredible and their light technician is top notch as well, I hope I get the chance to see them again some day
That is a strange line up though.
I am so fucking jealous of you, sir. That sounds so killer.emptyparadigm wrote:Also, we are playing with Church of Misery on Sunday. Did I already mention that? Sometimes when I can feel my lower back tightening up I strap on my bass Church of Misery style and try to play it.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Long time no see, how has everyone been? Anything new?
I finally got a soldering iron decent enough to dive into building, my first project is the Beavis Audio 1/2w Cricket amplifier(powers a 4x12!) of which I am going to try and make the grit channel a bit more suitable for doom as well as a choice of standard guitar, detuned guitar and bass versions, and also a choice of SS or Tube pre. About halfway done with my first build which is the bass version, gonna follow my modification of this circuit with some true bypass loops and some basic boosts.
2013 sure fucking ruled for music, here were my top pick of the crop:
