This is the best. My daughter and I have been jamming every few days lately. She is digging on the microbrute and me on the drums. She's 8 and into some hip stuff for a kid. Loves gnarly analog sounds. She totally gets it. Can even step sequence and use the MPC a little.

I'm really looking forward to this too... Still a few years to wait for that though .

I LOVE the Ink Spots.

So, my Pro Tube has been giving me hassle ever since I got it with white noise, arcing, popping, you name it.
My dad did a job for a dude that does electronics stuff and makes old timey arcade tables who said he can service old amps and would be happy to have a look at it.
So I took it apart to try and isolate the problem before I decide give it to him, narrowed it down to the preamp circuitry around V1 and 2, and the pre knob.
I've cleaned the pots before and it didn't work, but I just hosed them the fuck down with Isopropyl the other day, then proceeded to do every contact I could see while the chassis was out. Totally flooded the whole amp.
Put a shitty old Chinese or Sovtek 12AX7 in V1 (couldn't even read the label).
Put it back together, let it sit, whatever.

Fired it up today.
Fucking silence.
No noise.
Only my guitar.
Had a burn with my DE1984 and RV3 and pretended to be in a shitty Pelican covers band for a while.
Wave of relief and satisfaction.

Yeah man, I was starting to give up on music life, really.
My little Orange practice amp is sweet, but I really just want to play in a band again. This may allow for that.
I'm not holding my breath the old girl is fixed fixed, but if it lasts more than a little while, I'll be chuffed.
I was starting to think the whole board needed to be pulled and soldered.

No, I'm the guy with the Mig 50 in lots of pieces problem.
I had some problems with intermittent cutting out, so I went apeshit and did too much at once.
I need professional help.

My Laney had other issues related to noise.
If you've got hiss in yours I'd bet pretty hard money that it's fried a tube with its insane voltages or those old soviet caps have packed it in.

Another thing to check, it may sound silly but I had a bad buzz/hiss in my amps and stereo due to a bad CFL lightbulb in my apartment. Late in life (depends on each individual bulb) when the ballast in those starts to fail their EMI goes batshit even though the light output looks okay, they don't fail like traditional lightbulbs.
