One day before a small little band jam session we realized that we had no bass amp present. We scrambled to the local music store where they were selling a Laney BC75 on consignment for $150. Called the owner and talked him down to $120. Turned it on and the volume pot was super scratchy. Called him back and get it for $100 which is probably a good, fair, Craigslist value. But it rocks pretty hard. Single 15", not sure what, didn't even bother opening up. We'll probably end up using it live with synths/oscilators/samples because it has DI.samzadgan wrote:so…has anyone tried playing through a small solid state combo bass amp?
was thinking of getting a small practice amp for the living room…i saw a few fender and peavey solid state bass combo's…and it got me thinking…if playing through those big solid state bass rigs sounds really good…does the same rule apply for combo's?
I do this sometimes. HM-2 on max into the Hughes & Kettner for that Dismember tone, then run the fuzz pedals into my Phil Jones. Sounds massive, but doesn't respond the way I would like. Bass combos are funny creatures, I remember a guitarist at a jam session getting some insane tones out of a Peavey TNT, though he was running some serious dirt before it.samzadgan wrote:so…has anyone tried playing through a small solid state combo bass amp?

Well done. The Ampeg loves both pedals and the new art on the coven I flat out sexy.Barracuda wrote:Well... I ended up buying a BAT Coven to go with the new Ampeg. I'm not sorry, but I might be when rent is due.
