thanks for mentioning this, that would definitely be a deal breaker for me, at least for how much it costs. I would be okay with it on a cheaper delay.kbit wrote:I tend to think the el Cap at full wet sounds kinda thin. The filtering of the delay seems to have a limited bandwidth, which is the whole point of it being a tape delay, but I don't think it's best suited for fake vibrato purposes for bass. Just my $0.02.ChetMagongalo wrote:I thought about buying an el cap, but I'm not sure I like delay enough to justify the price. Anyone know of other delays that I can use as fake vibrato pedals if I turn the mix fully wet and delay time really short? I think most delays can probably do this if they have a mix knob right?

Weird, since Joel designed both, but the WV is totally his baby. I kept my v.1 WV and offloaded the ILLJ.UglyCasanova wrote:Rant: Tried an Instant Lo-Fi Junky the other day and it was probably one of the biggest pedal disappointments I've had. Almost bought one a while back. It compressed like hell even with the lo-fi/compression knob rolled all the way over to the lo-fi side. Colored the sound in all the wrong ways for me. The warble was not charming like on a Warped Vinyl, but rather stale and artificial. Just terrible. It made me sad.

The ILLJ was the first vibrato I had ever used, dandolin. I didn't think I liked the effect until I had tried the mind warp and a few others since. I think it just felt more imposing on the overall signal? I don't know. I was supposded to be borrowing the OF Lo-fi loop junky and I got that one instead when I rented pedals...accident of the shop. Might have just been dissapointed. I just remember plugging it in and tweaking the knobs and saying "nope".
It might have just been the controls too or just too regular of a waveform?
I do that with some modulation though. Like the Compact Fayes Sing B...I didn't like it or phasers until I got my Morley.

How is that weird? People tend to get better (or worse) at what they do. Actually, that makes perfect sense. The ILFJ was junk (pun pun pun), Joel went to work on making something better and voilà; the WV was born.Dandolin wrote:Weird, since Joel designed bothUglyCasanova wrote:Rant: Tried an Instant Lo-Fi Junky the other day and it was probably one of the biggest pedal disappointments I've had. Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
wait the chase bliss dude designed the instant lofi?
my only gripe w/ the instant, is that there should be a knob to control the amount of compression. otherwise i dug it. its the only pedal that gets close to the almighty SP vinyl simmmmmm
honestly if someone knew how to mod them to add this control i would be all over it (please PM me if so)

Other than that, and the fact that Joel is a golden god, infallible and unchanging, who exists outside the bounds of time and space and puny human imagination, you're basically correct.

Well, it's a game company (a big one with a long history with arcade machines too) so it's probably not abandonedlordgalvar wrote:I was just saying if you could pick it up cheap, haha, not stealing. They do find abandonded proto pcbs everyone in a while. They found some SEGA prototypes in random warehouses in France I think.

Does anyone know the exact difference between the Nord Lead 1 to the 4? There is a Nord Lead 1 on Reverb for $500 that I can't stop looking at.
