Also, I need some tech help (mostly looking at Nick, but any/all are welcome to chime in):
I bought a Laney Cub 10 a month or two back. Haven't gotten to use it for more than a few minutes until tonight, and it's doing something weird. After 20/25 minutes, the volume quickly fades and then it goes off. The jewel light is also flickering the whole time. It's exactly what's described here -
http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/squawk- ... ut-me.htmlWhat to do? I figure tubes first, but the discussion there made it sound like it's probably not tubes. The "solution" posted there says
I got the answer
thermal fuse...
And I got the solution ...
a variable tagged TR2 inside... turned it off (fully counter clockwise) and ... BINGO!!! Perfect sound again ... i've been playing loud since i woke up this morning...
But I don't know what that means. Do I open up the actual chassis? I'm comfortable doing so, but just not super experienced with this stuff. Sigh, wish I'd put it through its paces when I got it so I coulda had the option of getting my $$ back.

Ahem, little help? Nick? Anyone?

sorry i missed this. was there a picture or something i could get?
your probably going to have to open the amp up, discharge the supply, find the part in question and remove or adjust it

What's that toggle do? Is that a custom thing or do they all have toggles now?

I made something similar to this
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Constructin ... ool/2177/1 except I used two resistors in paralel and added aligator clips to the ends, you just want to attach one end to ground and then the other to the cap, wait a few minutes and repeat with the next cap. Some amps have a place where you can bleed off all the caps at once but thats over my head. I haven't been shocked yet and am now 3-0 with fixing my amps

also use a wooden chopstick if you need to poke at stuff in there, Keep one hand in your back pocket, wear rubber soled shoes, try not to complete a circuit with your body. Good luck!

Ey Nick,
I thought the customer for the three-input-amp was in the thread as well. My complaints about the fonts were not directed at you. I'm sure you do whatever makes your customers happy. I was just trying to poke the dude in that direction..
Hiwatts are lettered in all caps though. Maybe that would make a difference?

Uh, yeah, I have no idea how to do any of that. Shit. Maybe I can still file a PayPal complaint...

yeah if you have no experience inside amps then i wouldn't suggest it without supervision, as it can literally kill / main you. If you bought it within 45 days you can still file a complaint.

no worries my man. I am not offended. People dont always like what I do. For example some people love the stonehenge look but thats the least original and most traditional amp look but thats what some people like.
I could do an all caps version but it will still seem plain in someways, traditional to some of course. See what brett says later

Where ya at? Maybe one of us knows a guy who knows a guy, looks like an easy fix, shouldn't take that long or cost much
