Oblique Strategies in a box is a great description of euro! And yes, that's exactly how I feel about euro; it's been great fun, but overall, I feel it's much easier to concentrate on making music and learning my setup with a few discrete boxes.

Also, a lot of why I'm leaning towards getting out of euro is that I've been much more inspired by my Digitakt lately. As soon as I paired it with a MIDI controller (16n Faderbank) to open up some functionality, I've been much happier with it and it has helped me look at it as more than just a beat maker. I've really been enjoying stacking and mangling samples in a more ambient context on it, which is how I've mainly been using euro lately.

Yes!! Are we the same person a video showing someone stacking ambient samples is what convinced me to finally get the digitakt because previously I was worried I couldn't replicate that aspect of what I do with euro.

Other than that, I just want to get my Orville and Eclipse skills honed. I doubt I'll ever truly jump into vsig, but I do want to be able to do some simple program editing and building from the front panel. Everything else I own has been easily sorted, even things like machinedrum and tx81z that seemed daunting only took about a month to really get moving on. Orville has been a 2 year on/off relationship that I just havn't broken through on yet. The plateau of potential just keeps expanding. One of those "the more you know then more you know you don't know" situations.

A $10 MT-32 would be one of my most prized possessions too. Well done Psyre. I'm on board with ratrod.... in theory. I've never actually acquired anything in a flea market / pawn shop / car boot sale (please give me points for my reference English friends )

The $30 guitar I got on Craigslist is my main one these days. Funny how that works. Psyre might relate... an RM1X was on my local craigslist recently for $100. I probably would have gotten it just to have another for that price.

So I just spent some time rearranging my studio. I removed all the modular and moved the Digitakt, 16n, and mixer (with Mood and Count to 5 in the effects send) to the same table as the Matriarch. Actually very happy with the results. Don't know if I even really need to add anything to compliment the Matriarch. I think my new goal may be to just sell all my euro to fund the rest of my goals.

My goals are still the same as what I thought they would be in September but... I have been offered a sweet deal on a piece of equipment that might change everything. We've all been there. Classic Zag 2020.

I saw that earlier and really liked the design (and he has a blue offset, so immediate following), price... not so much, considering there are cheaper and more complete options.

Oh yeah! I couldn't pass on a $100 rm1x. I'd love to try one out, and obvs a rs7000. Woukd be easier to work on than my PMA-5 I'm sure, but it's been a great companion.

$10 mt-32 is only my latest, $5 MMT-8, $5 FB-01 (sadly sold when unemployed). $5 cute little Yamaha MM10. Those are my cheapest finds. I hit second hand stores hard after moving to Arkansas and not having a job for 6months. Now I've pretty much drained them all in a 100 mile radius. Everyone always says "I think you're the only person around here that knows what that thing even is". That's pretty much the double edged sword being down here, I get all the cheap useful gear but/because noone gives a shit about electronic or experimental music.

Gear:
1) buy pedals to finish up pedal board ideas - OBNE Signal Blender & a looper of some sort (Ditto X2 or Clone Looper are current front runners, might get both), DAPE #rip
- rearranged my pedalboards and realized the only thing I really need is a looper, so I'm moving the Signal Blender and Rip to the gas list
- complete! Bought a Ditto X2 and a Keeley ECCOS. Still don't love the X2, but probably going to keep it as an extra tool for whenever I need to test something. The ECCOS on the other hand is amazing! Especially because when I'm not using it as a looper, I have a really nice delay to use instead!
2) buy pedals because of gas - OBNE MAW, Drolo Stretch Weaver, DAPE #rip, OBNE Signal Blender
- no more gas for MAW or Signal Blender and ended up buying a Life Pedal instead of a Rip. I definitely still want a Rip at some point, but that's not a priority at the moment. I'm pretty happy with my current pedal selection, but I am still always gassing for a Stretch Weaver (even though I have no idea what I will use it for).
3) buy a pedalboard and power supply for my bass pedals
- partially complete; got a pedalboard for Christmas. Re-thinking some of my pedalboard setup. I'm starting to think I want to have smaller, more focused boards (essentially I will have three boards with about 4-6 pedals; one board for ambient/drones, one board for garage/surf, and one board for bass). So I might sell my Novo 24 and Ciokolate for a couple smaller boards and power supplies and use the Nano+ I got for Christmas as one of my guitar board. The Nano+ is slightly too small for my bass board anyways because the Black Finger is such a beastly pedal!
4) mod my Jaguar
- I am way too lazy. All I really have planned right now is to cut the pickguard to fit some new control plates I ordered. I should have done this by now; it'll only take me an hour or two
5) buy a Teenage Engineer PO-33 because I need more samplers for some reason
- complete; got this for Christmas as well and it is super fun!
6) buy a QuBit Bloom, Make Noise Mimeophon, Intellijel Quadrax because eurorack is a terrible addiction
- not complete, but I am strongly considering getting completely out of the eurorack game
- calling this complete as I am now completely out of the euro game
7)replace my dead computer; probably build a proper desktop
- complete, fiancee's laptop started dying too so ended up just buying a new mid-range laptop for both of us.
8) buy things if my time comes up on the waitlist and I have money available - Rob Hordijk Blippoo Box, Demedash T120
- not sure I will actually have any money available as I kind of want to save a good chunk for when/if an Arp 2600 Mini is made
9) NEW GOAL: flip all of my euro gear for a Moog Grandmother (to pair with the Matriarch) and to afford some of these other goals
- complete! I have flipped everything (minus my Nebulae, which isn't selling) and ended up buying a Sirin and NDLR instead of a Grandmother. No regrets!
