Pladask Fabrikat
New predirt reverb(probably a Holy Grail) DONE. 2 RV-3s. Non of them pre-dirt though, but as only verbs on the board(s).
Sampler
Behringer Model D-clone
Studio gear(mics, preamps, outboard gear)
Reel-to-reel
Get a backup baritone. Prolly a Squier. Sort of DONE, converting the telemaster to a baritone
Fix/DIY:
Change the nut on the telemaster. CHANGED THE NECK INSTEAD.
Add Bigsby to telemaster DONE
Mod the Traynor TS-25 so I can hook it up to my big cabs. DONE
Maybe get a Mastery-trem and bridge for the Puresalem Reverberation.
Upgrade my lapsteel with a Deusenberg Multi bender. DONE
Musical stuff:
Get better at recording and mixing.
Record and release another solo album
Record and release an album with my new duo, Old Believers.
Finish and release the new Solstorm album(90% done now).
Play more drone/noise/experimental gigs.
Spend less time looking at gear on the interwebs and spend more time playing and making music.
Currently working on my recording skills, doing recording sessions for my friends bands.
Regarding studio gear I have bought a Heil Sound PR-40, Cubase 9.5 and a new audio interface.
Still waiting for the Fabrikat to be released.
Not sure if I need a sampler, but I'd love to play with a Octatrack. We'll see.
Not sure about the Behringer synth as well, cause now I got a couple of synths available in our studio.
One thing I need to add to my gear goals is a new bass head. Not sure if I'll go SS(like an older GK) or tube(really want a V4).
I own both a V4 and two 800rb’s, for normal bass use, GK all day. It takes dirt and pedals so well. The V4 runs out of headroom almost too quickly with bass.
Will mostly use it with baritone or Bass VI, so not much "normal" bass use, except for maybe in the studio.

1) buy a 3D printer, print custom mounts, stands, and knobs for all the things
2) move my upright piano from my parents house to my house, have it tuned, continue learning to play it properly, possibly even take lessons
3) replace battery in DX7, upload factory presets, learn to program it
4) build the random DIY things I have laying around (AllFlesh, MIDI to CV thing, Sterling Silo 20)
5) circuit bend all the random shit I have laying around (Casio MT140, Boss DS-1, Korg Monotron Delay)
6) buy a proper mixer and monitors
7) buy a new amp (probably a Fender Bassbreaker)
8) buy a Polymoon
9) buy/build a 12 string electric
Likely 2019 goals, but who knows how 2018 will actually go:
1) buy an Intellijel 104hp 4U case and finalise my euro plans
2) buy a Make Noise Shared System Plus
3) video synthesis
So it's been like 10 hours since I posted this and I already need to edit it
New 2018 goal, get an Elektron Digitakt (maybe trade or sell my Drumbrute for one because I doubt I'd be using it after getting a Digitakt)
Some things have changed, but I've actually been pretty good with my 2018 goals. I just moved my piano yesterday and I bought a Digitakt, which has replaced a lot of my other gear and gear gas. I didn't actually buy a Polymoon, but I don't really plan on it now; I'm happy with my pedals. My euro plans have changed pretty drastically (again); I have a new case and a few new modules. I almost bought a 3D printer, but ended up trading a bunch of stuff instead of selling it. That's still next on the list along with fixing the DX7 and building the rest of the DIY things.

Scrapped the EGC plan in lieu of a set of Ronin Foilbuckers and doing a project guitar.
PBass aquired. I'm pretty much done acquiring bass guitars unless a lefty fretless Wal MKI appears out of nowhere for a good price.
Meinl Cymbals acquired. Watching
Aric Improta video makes me want more and also a SPD-SX.
No longer interested in octatrack or monitors. Apollo Twin still on the radar.
Morfbeats stuff also on radar.

So I can only accumulate shit and my wishlist consists of:
1) Elektron Rytm mkii
2) Meris mercury 7 & polymoon
3) Elektron Analog4 mkii
4) Red panda Tensor
5) Turn on the octatrack2 and the analog heat at least once in 2018
I'd really love to learn ableton and record some ambient stuff tho
woohh. I turned the OTmkII on 3 times already! Nice average.
The polymoon is unbeliveable. The demos really don't do it justice

I find that the longer I put off my gear goals, the more my playing and writing goals tend to increase. I've been planning to buy a traditional fuzz pedal for the last 2 years, but putting it off hasn't hurt me any. I've also been slow about doing the recording and mixing legwork, but that should be done very soon.
That said, our band situation has changed and I'd like to start incorporating stereo panning in my rig somehow.

As much as I agree so much with your sentiment about gear goals supplanting playing goals I think the lack of any fuzz pedals is definitely harm

Etch more pedals.
Up my knob game.
Put some alumitones in my V.
No new pedals. Maybe upgrade from Xero standard to deluxe. Maybe a BD-2, and maybe a DS1. Otherwise nothing.
Case for my V
Keep my pedalboard unchanged all year.
Use more effects.
Play guitar more.
Record another album.
Got an etched pedal on the way in as we speak.
I've changed out pretty much all my knobs.
I've got some alumitones. Gotta install them after I move apartments and can unpack my soldering iron.
Upgraded from Xero standard to deluxe. Went back to Standard.
I changed my actual pedal board, but didn't change the layout. Migrated to a Mono Cases pedal board, which is awfully nice.
Playing pretty much every day.
3 months in and goals are going pretty well.
Just gotta stay zen.

When all your "overdrive" and "distortion" sounds are already sorta fuzzy, having a dedicated fuzz for an additional texture starts to become a little redundant.

Mostly I can't decide what fuzz I want to get, and I've got a tight budget, so my pedals of interest have been all over the place

I definitely need to stop looking for gear and find some cool cats to jam with me and eventually have a jam space... I'm fucking sick of attenuating my amp has much as possible and still worry about annoying the neighbors

Only three on the list for this year:
Carr Sportsman head
Diezel VH4-2 pedal
Non-relic’d Custom Shop Fender Jaguar

Need to get a Nano POG for the live board, which will free up space to hopefully get my new Keeley Caverns on there. Those are goals, I think.
I keep talking about how much I love Tone Machines, but I don't have any. I think that buying a La Machine or Sub Machine should be a goal this year.
Trying to keep things achievable so I'll leave it at those for now.
