and if it was stolen in sf. it was probably sold on a sidewalk by a bum in front of city hall earlier today. to someone who will probably pawn it. the pawn owners will wipe it. and that's the end of it.
And Mandee once told me that

Didn't he talk about that guitar in an old rig rundown? I think I remember him saying the tuning was unstable and he only used it when his tech was able to wrangle it into being playable for awhile or something. I dunno, not going to go check. Also, face tattoos are for 19 year old youtube rappers.

The "upgrades" or whatever the fuck they are offering are not worth the extra thousand bucks they will charge. Give me a Mesa or Gallien Krueger any day over the top of the line boutique amp company. Never going there.
I think there are definitely some worthwhile companies out there. I think those types of amps are often inspired by a few pairings. “Vox meets Marshall with Bax tone stack.” The general consensus is stuff like Science and Verellen seem of upstanding quality.
I mean, IMO it's overpriced. I haven't owned a Science or Verellen amp, but I owned a Meatsmoke pre for a bit and I did not understand the pricing at all. It's cool, but I could get almost identical sounds out of my Darkglass gear or other dirt pedals.
So for me, I've yet to see the market make sense for boutique amps. I like hand made instruments though but I'm holding that shit, so it makes more sense to me.
I guess if I heard something and could not live without it, I'd go for it. I'd prefer stuff that's easily replaced though.

You're actually right though. If he had it only on one PC and not backed up somewhere, that's a huge dummy move. I feel bad for him if that really happened though.

Yeah if he didn't backup that would be a huge boner for sure. Reminds me of the time Kirk Hammett lost all those riffs he had recorded on his phone. Except this is much worse because people would actually care if they couldn't hear Verellen amps anymore.

hahahahahaha! I forgot about the Kirk Hammett thing! OMG! That shit was hilarious!
Yea I agree. I'm just hoping he was smart enough to at the very least keep physical copies of his schematics. Makes me wonder if there's a lot of folks that do the same thing.
I keep all my graphics on one pc but the difference is that if I lost them, the builder usually also has them. So no biggie. OR! I have them in my email. Though it would still suck but not on this level.

I always thought the big thing with boutique amp companies was custom amp builds.

I think he's covered with his standard models, at least, since I'm pretty sure the Meatsmoke and Skyhammer use PCBs. But who knows about his custom work.
I, personally, use dropbox and have two separate hard drives with my work on them (which I really should get around to updating, right about now

).

since we're on the subject of verellen. their cosmetics do not reflect their price point. i don't give a fuck how good they may or may not sound. if an amp looks like they just put the thing together and said fuck it when it came time to do the cabinet and faceplates. i'm not gonna wanna play it.

I will add that, coming from a furniture making background, I can't stand seeing natural/stained dovetailed plywood enclosures.
If you're gonna use plywood, cover it in tolex, please.

Other guitarist in my band has a Loucks. Between he and I we have a shit ton of killer amps and he ends up playing the Loucks quite a bit. It can hang w any of our other amps.

Don't blame drugs!

Also ILF is way more judgmental about face tattoos than I thought it would be and I like the way Verellen amps look and sound.
