I would never want to bring a laptop to a show.

Because of potential issues. Now, sure, my Echoplex could fail but I carry a backup analog delay just in case. Well, shit, everything could fail, but I don't want to go full doomsday prepper with gear.

The other reason is that I have no interest playing with a computer for making music anyway. I just think it is boring and have no patience for dealing with computer issues. There is no way I would spend the time to even want to figure out how to setup a MIDI controller. Tactile interfaces are much more rewarding for tweaking rather than submenus and presets. I know I am missing out on some potentially awesome shit but I also know how my brain functions.

These things are just me though. I am not saying computers are bad and no one should use them. Just not me.

Granted, my dream looper has a lot of features I don't see often.

-two loops independent or chained
-stop button that either stops at the end of the loop (one press) or immediately (two presses)
-dl4 style single play
-reverse/half speed
-fx loop
-lp/hp filter per loop
-stereo
-not gargantuan

It's not much to ask for.

The Boss RC-202 is two tracks of looping, smaller,
and slightly less spendy. Equally eye-jarring in a
"Tron Christmas tree" glow-stick type of way.

Of course no demos show any interesting or palatable
guitar-based loop/drone noise-joy. They just show how
to record soundtracks for soft-porn movies.
