Nice score!

Looks almost Gretsch-y.

My thoughts, too. Since I haven't seen the right vintage Gretsch, and because the price was low, I felt like I couldn't go wrong. Will see how the pickups sound. I'm tempted to put single coils in it.

That looks cool. I have a much shoddier looking First Act that is a blast to play. Let us know what the neck on that is like when you get it! And the pickups!

Only had a chance to play it briefly so far. Guitar came with 9s or 10s on it, which feel strange since I have my Rickenbacker setup for 13s.
The neck is actually much faster than I would have expected.
The pickups are really jangly. I'm thinking I'm going to take it for a bone nut and setup. The intonation is kinda wacky. May also look at different pickups.

Fast neck like a thin profile? What kinda single could are you thinking of putting in it?

Holy shit, that blueburst.
… and what's left of that Kay.

(Not exactly cheap though.

)

Let me get back to you on the neck once I play it a bit more.
I'm really stuck on the pickup question. Out of the box the humbuckers sounded very bright to my ears -- my sound is generally darker -- but maybe I'll like them more when I get it back.
Open to suggestions if you have any. My sound is largely washed out/reverberated, not a lot of gain. I also prefer heavy strings. Was thinking about P90s but I've never owned a guitar with them. Also don't want to drop a lot of cash on new pickups.

P-90s are my favorite but they can be pretty bright too. Might help you get your sound to put some nice mellow humbuckers in there. I'm told AlNiCo II magnets are good for darker, richer sounds but I have no first hand experience.

i do! i almost exclusively use the AlNiCo II 490R in the neck position of my beater Les Paul (490R/498T, II/V), compared to the AlNiCo V P-90 in the neck position of my DC Les Paul (P-90/P-90, V/V) the 490R is a lot warmer and more articulate than the P-90. the 490R however, compared to the AlNiCo V 498T in the bridge position of the same guitar is night and day. bright and mid rangey, on the borderline of single coil shrillness with the 498T to rich, articulate, and full with the 490R. heavy strings and a good setup help but the differences are very clear when played side by side.

Profile and finish. The fretboard is sleek but I've had other guitars with painted necks where I felt like the finish slowed me down. This one doesn't.

Why does this Super 400 have to be $10K?

Why can't it be cheap?
