Honestly I feel as though everyone who has said bad things about JHS has pretty pointedly explained why they don't like JHS in the specific so I don't understand where this pearl-clutching persecuted Christian bullshit is coming from.

Because it is an easy meme. Acknowledging that JHS is the pedal world face of a terrifying cult with real world implications is messy and serious. Truth is, if you paint criticism of JHS as boring old anti-Christian bias, it is easy to swallow. Facing the fact that JHS gives its money and time to a group who call themselves Christian but who have beliefs at odds with mainstream theology is not easy. I agree with chucky.
More to the point, people that start these organisations have a clear agenda, and attract like-minded people.
Trying to attach a criticism-exempt status to your beliefs because their "part of your religion" is the biggest crock of shit going.
It's not fair to those Christians who don't suck (read "don't share the same dire set of ethics").
It's akin to saying, "in the end, all Muslims should be carpet bombed because they all want to declare jihad on the world."
No they don't. It's just a few psychotic assholes who got together and decided they'd use religion as a lever to unify people who think that way and terrify others in some attempt to force an idiotic opinion on an indifferent world.
