I acknowledge this and am sorry for my use of it just now.
I realized it a week ago on the I Heart Powerviolence Facebook page.
Someone said "Dre Beats are for plebs." I asked them if saying things are for plebs is for plebs.
I did not remove the beam from my own eye before complaining about the mote in my neighbour's.

haha, just seeing it too much on here.

Be more of a flower and bloom some new descriptors. Let use "hoi polloi" this week. Next week we will use "followers of consumer culture" and continue the discussion onward by using "mass-media informed individuals" in reference to non-ILFers/underground media connoisseurs...I know they ain't all direct synonyms, but it may help direct conversation toward new and exciting paths where we can explore different cultural views on how music relates to perception. Let's make it springtime for analysis!

Or just keep using "pleb".

My old drummer's band was called "Plebeian Cry". haha

The ultimate description of plebs and their kin, from where I'm standing, anyway...
Admit it. Despite your pseudo-bohemian appearance and vaguely leftist doctrine of beliefs, you know nothing about art or sex that you couldn’t read in any trendy, New York, underground fashion magazine. Prototypical non-conformist. You are a vacuous soldier of the thriftstore Gestapo. You adhere to a set of standards and tastes that appear to be determined by an unseen panel of hipster judges, giving a thumbs up or thumbs down to incoming and outgoing trends and styles of music and art. "Go analog, baby! You’re so postmodern!" You’re diving face forward into an antiquated past. It’s disgusting, it's offensive, don’t stick your nose up at me... what do you have to say for yourself?

You spend your time sitting in circles with your friends, pontificating to each other, forever competing for that one moment of self-aggrandizing glory in which you hog the intellectual spotlight, holding dominion over the entire shallow pointless conversation. "Oh, we’re not worthy." When you walk by a group of quote-unquote normal people, you chuckle to yourself, patting yourself on the back as you scoff. It's the same superiority complex shared by the high school jocks who made your life a living hell, and makes you a slave to the competitive capitalist dogma you spend every moment of your waking life bitching about... what do you have to say for yourself?
It's scary because it's like looking in a mirror.

Man, you are reading into it way too much...it just means commoner (mostly in reference to Rome). That's it.

if you want to use that definition, please link every reference to "pleb" to the post where you define your implied definition.

Useage: pleb (editor: link)

haha, just giving you a hard time, bud. It's all good.

I used to live with a guy who was a middle class, closet young-liberal party member, would Hoover drugs and alcohol and had to be right about everything even when he was completely out of his depth. He thought he was so bohemian, slumming it in the old illegal brothel we used to live in, with us working class drunks, but he always had mum and dad on hand to bail him out of financial crises.
CCandy that post reminded me of him.

Apparently he made some iPhone app/Facebook game and made a fortune when all that took off.
Good for him.

How does this work considering that they are a cornerstone of being a pleb? They were/are a pop group that has been force fed down everyone's throat for 50 years.
Also why are you even responding AT people?
Friiieeeeeeeeennnnnddd :bear:

I'd be fine letting the beach boys be if people acknowledged that Pet Sounds is of no more value than any of their silly surfy stuff.

No you can't say that because all the pseudo intellectuals, pseudo cool people, pseudo music fans will get mad at you for thinking for your self and call you a pseudo pleb.

FYI that post was just the lyrics to the first two verses of Say Anything's song "Admit It!!!" I've been listening to it for a decade, now, and it never lost its acerbic edge. I think it cuts to the heart of a lot of people that I know... including, in parts, myself. (For example, I do love hogging the intellectual spotlight, holding dominion over the entire, shallow, pointless conversation. So do some, erm, other ILFers  ) -- in the third verse he goes after himself too

Ain't that just the way, iPhone app trustfund douches...
