A friend came by the other day and played the coolest drone music I've ever heard on it without even knowing what it was or how to play it, plus it wasn't even remotely in tune.

Am I the only one suspicious of how JHS made all of these "changes" to the muff circuit to fit the era available on one knob? Even with SMD, that seems kinda unlikely. Considering also, a lot of those changes in sound have to do with the transistors used from what I understand? Dunno if anyone has brought this up already, or if anyone has any input, but it seems like it's a muff clone based solely around marketing mumbo jumbo and little else. And it's goddamned expensive.

Heres my worthless JHS hating anecdote

This must've been about 4 years ago...I bought an overdrive from them, got it, and it had no drive. I could increase the volume a little bit with it but that was it. I emailed them, said there was something wrong with the pedal. They asked what I was using for gear- I told them my pretty unique guitar and amp combination and they replied something ridiculous like: we have that exact rig in our shop and tested the pedal out on those and it worked perfectly.

...wtf

The response was so weird I didn't know what to do. It was hard to communicate with them, I think they were moving or something, got no where trying to get a replacement.

But srsly this type of dubious lip service is a primary reason why I'm not a JHS supporter.

"We have that exact rig" lol. Same tubes, speakers, pickups, cables, strings, setup too, I'm sure. Because they said so :|:
Foh. Do you remember the name of whoever said that to ya?

Also "worked perfectly" can, and often does sound terrible.
