I think a lot of good bands have superior second albums because they don't have day jobs any more. A lot more time to practice, gig, and record.
I'm pretty sure I agree with the vast majority of these.
Has anyone mentioned White Zombie? Cause I love me some Astro Creep, don't really care for the first one.

Astro Creep is their 4th album, Make Them Die Slowly is their sophomore album. Though yes I like Astro Creep better than La Sexorcisto but.. no their first EP Gods on Voodoo Moon is my favorite

I just love how muddy and groovy 'Ulterior' is. DA is one of those bands you could throw a dart at any of their releases and say, "Yeah that's the favorite".
How do people feel (felt) about GRIDLINK? I was/am a huge fan!
