Anything new in dronelandia? I've been working on some tracks recording straight to 4-track cassette that I'll hopefully have done and up by September. So far the stuff is a bit like a heavy doom/drone Grouper.

Sounds tasty!
In other news, we've been trying to record another OWWL album but it's tedious. I'm feeling I've nothing left to say inside that genre.

That's rough. I feel that way with more traditional doom/stoner rock. I'm old enough where I've moved on from and eventually back to enough things to not feel terminal about it especially if I feel like I'm actively being pulled in another direction.

I've been thinking about getting one of those for awhile and probably still will eventually. I'm thinking about getting a Moog Sub 37 which can latch drones and do arpeggios which would be nice if I ever do this one man thing live.

Re: How to DrO)))ne
Just finally reading through this thread, I've been messing around with acoustic/electric drone recently with a mandolin and acoustic guitar. That said, I'm trying to move to Bass VI+drums+drone synth and other synths soon. My rig is a V4 into two 810's with an HM2, a Supercollider, a Dirge Delay in a wah shell, an FZ2, an RV3, a BF2, a Noisemaker Nebula, and a Ditto X2. I have a digitech hardwire phase/tremolo I need to make sure still works, but other than that what should I be looking into? I like spacey and ambient but still heavy. Basically I want to start a sci-fi themed drone project.

Definitely add a ring mod or pitch shifter of some sort. That'll get you some metallic clang and a bunch of high pitched squeals.

Re: How to DrO)))ne
Well, things are going well for me. I've improved ten fold from where I was when I first started this thread. I have continued to do weekly amp worship, drone sessions for sonic meditation, I always feel better afterwards. Playing glacially slow and controlling feedback have become a lot easier. And my rig is pretty much where I want it. I tried using loopers and delays but still never really got comfortable with them, Ive been getting the job done with varying degrees of fuzzy heaviness and lots of reverb. Could use a volume pedal though. I love doing a 2 note chord and bending one string to make it dissonant, it makes the air literally shift in the room. I will definitely be incorperationing drones in my new drum and bass 2 piece. Maybe even a full on drone song sometime.
Rev. DOOM, The Dude of DOOM, DOOMER, El DOOMerino, if you're not into the whole brevity thing...
