k, so i can just attach the switch to the points on the bottom of the board where R15 is with two 18k resistors in between?

Yeah, try that. And if it doesn't work just use one and see how that sounds!

Yeah solder it to the bottom, clip off the original resistor first though. Probably easiest to just clip it off so you don't accidentally rip the solder pad out.

Looking at your DPDT like this

1 2
3 4
5 6

3 is going to one of R15s pads, 4 to the other. The order doesn't matter.

18k resistor between 5 and 6

4k7 resistor between 1 and 2

It's ok you can use an SPDT too, it's just a little messier.

I started writing an explanation, but I made it pretty confusing so I'm going to draw you a picture. I'll be back in a minute

Tell me if it works because I haven't actually tried it but have a board for it I've never built up. In theory it should work though. Confidence building post right??

You could do this with an SPST.

You need what... 4.7K and 18K options, right?

Here's a few... SPDT on the first one, SPST on the second two.

You could clip one leg and use that resistor if you don't have another 4k7.

I'd personally just clip it off and hide the resistors under the board just to make it look neater

This will do the same and you won't need to pull any resistors, just solder on top or on the bottom of R14. Any resistor 5k6 - 8k2 will be okay.
