Hollow and semi-hollows were just too expensive when I was gigging for anything I liked, and was afraid of roadworthiness and didn't like not having a big club in a gig bag while waiting for a taxi.

^I love the bass players. I can get the filter pedals they don't like for a song and do horrendous things on guitar with them, thanks to their fickleness and evil.

That and I have yet to see a wall of middle-aged manflesh wearing SRV hats and grimacing playing bass at a GC.

fuck YEAH. that place gets more insipid and asinine every day. there's sooooome good stuff... but getting harder to enjoy the good bits with all the other annoyances. like, digging through poo for gold somebody swallowed. then they switched it up on ya and most of it's pyrex. not worth the time anymore.
