your putting me into the shitty situation of defending her actions, which was never my intention...
but lets face reality, she's going to be building pedals under whatever name she can, be it devi ever, effector 13 or fuzz goddess...
she already sold 3 heart mothers and a devi ever 2 knob clone (like it or not)
the internet is her marketplace, her revenue stream. (again like it or not)
so yeah i'm sure that phone is a wise investment for her.

I'm not putting you in that position, I'm pointing out the grim reality that she simply doesn't have money to invest, she is not making even basic survival needs according to her. Your situation may be different (you didn't answer about your plan level/costs. Are their lower service tiers?)
True, the internet is her marketplace and she already spends a huge amount of time anchored to a DESKTOP computer (that, she recently upgraded intending to use it for such things as video) and regularly uses skype, etc and the business isn't real-time nor mobile. The exciting benefit she mentioned was related to a game she wants to develop
long term and even she now realizes the difficulty of realizing a practical income from that.
As you say, let's face reality, the purchase is wise insofar as she externalizes
costs (she has been asking for money to cover basic expenses for months and now business operating expenses while, simultaneously, purchasing luxury items.)
and
risks (let's face it, this is essentially the same business as the console which still has a sizable unpaid liability - Like the heart mother, she had sold quite a few consoles, after all.)
to other people.
