I never understood the appeal of the tempest. how did they even release it without letting users upload their own samples?

Yeah I don't really get that but I'm not opposed to setting samples on my own dedicated sampler on the side. I probably just buy a used SP404sx and play it in conjunction, I'm more worried about the fact that synthesis drums will be really complicated, I don't need a analog drum machine for synth sounds, I got that covered. Worst comes to worst, I sell it for a little bit more and make small profit.

Although I really can't understand how they put their own fucking samples in but dont allow you to load in your own. That makes even less sense then just not letting you insert samples.

I like it the 505, it seriously can do soo much. More than I even know. every time I mess with it, I figure out something new it can do.
I really haven't tried hooking it up to other synths. I use my Minibrute for that.

Would any of y'all lovely keys folk have any advice for a beginner?
Looking to start taking piano lessons and would like to find a keyboard with which I can practice and (potentially (eventually)) play out.
Are there any entry-level style keyboards that don't aren't garbage?

What type of sounds do you want? Is this more about learning keys and having good piano and elec. piano sounds? Do you want to learn about synthesis?
Budget?

More about learning to play keys, for sure, so I'd like to have decent electric piano sounds. Having a bank of, like, pads and ambient stuff would be a big plus. Decent organs sounds are always welcome. I'd like to get into synths at some point, but, right I want to focus more on learning piano-style basics. If I could get something for less than $500, that'd be great.

It might be more cost effeciant to get a nice weighted keys midi controller and then get some nice soft synths / plug ins.

For learning keys, I've learned it's easier to learn on an actual clean keyboard sound on a computer plus you can have a metronome on and other such utilities plus it's generally cheaper than having a decent keyboard.

On another note, I've been playing the tempest quite a bit, and although I still have a lot to learn the sounds that I've gotten from various forums and stuff have really helped in creating a lot better sounds. Synth sounds are a cinch to put together but I have no idea how to create drum sounds just yet especially since I really desire a good crash and clap that I seem to be missing. I like the workflow, just I feel like I'm going to go through a long process in learning the dang thing.

On another note, I'll be having a Korg DW-8000 coming in, my music partner (is it still a bandmate if it's only a duo?) is finally getting a Nord Lead 2, and an MPC 2500 so I think our music will finally be fully covered.

Once our setups are put together nicely I'll show a nice picture of our stage setup.

Yep, midi controller and software. Plus it'll avoid you dropping money on a synth only to realize as you're getting more and more into it that you might have not made the proper choice for the sounds you are interested in.

Voyager is from some months ago, the Prophet is new today.

along with my Nord lead 3, I don't think I'm gong to need more synth for a long time.

Oh shit, how're you liking the Prophet so far? Had a tough time deciding between the 12 and the 08 PE, went for the latter because of the vast difference in price but now I might have made a huge mistake.

And get a MS-20.
