And it rulllllles. I can crank my shit and it refuses to clip in the slightest. My other mic on the verellen is a 60's handheld interview mic, so between the hifi quality of the vocal mic and the lows and immense quality of the kick mic balance themselves out perfectly. Best combo ever

KB, what pups are in that and how do they sound? Tony just got a squier that plays SO NICE. It feels great, sustains forever, nicely put together, one of the winners. But something about the sound through the amp just isn't as good. So I'm thinking pickup swap would make it a beast.

Savage Cross piece I've been working on for a month off and on
Sitting on 3 albums worth of Savage Cross that just need vocals or bass

Thanks for listening in dude

Honestly I'm not sure. It's a '92-'93 and it has a Duncan Designed logo on it, not sure if that's stock of not :idk:
I've heard tremendous things about Duncan's Quarter Pounder P-Bass pickups, so that may be something to look into.

Whatever mine is sounds nice, though.

Can Musicmans (Musicmen?) get the low lows going with the way that pickup is placed, or is it pretty much doopity doop Jazz Bass territory?

it's more like a tight P bass then a jazz... it has good lowend yeah but it's a round sound like a normal p or something.. listen to Peter Gabriel's stuff... Tony used MMs for most of it :thumb:

This bass is passive though unlike the real things which have a EQ and stuff... this bass also has two volume controls... and I'm not sure why yet...

Knowing the amazing work you do to your instruments, I can't wait too see if you doctor this guy up.

 that is kind'a the plan  I has some ideas about finishing it.. or covering it with Ikea stickers... I like the neck... pickup works... controls are lame though... needs a better tone control... one volume knob... and a coil switch I think..

The one thing that I always noted about SR5s,....with a new set of strings they sound like a piano; even on the B string.

Someone over here in Spokaloo has been trying to sell one of those OLP SR5 copies for 200; exact finish and fingerboard,...I've been tempted several times by it,...but I want a P Bass or an EB3.

That's kind'a the sound I am after with it... I wanted a bass for slap'n'pop/Ox typing stuff... I have a ibanez mutt set up for this but it never got the sound I want which is a MM sound.. But this VS a P or a EB... it would lose...
