Reminds me to list some stuff soon before all the stimulus money gets spent.

Can you believe that price for a Lal:

I worked at this shop when I was in high school. That stream of consciousness description is how the owner talks in everyday life.

Someone listed a Sakura for $2000 a long time ago and it never sold. That must be where this price comes from. Victor Litz Music seems to have bought some TGP type's collection from ~10 years ago because all the pedals they have listed for big money are really dated and somewhat out of fashion now. Lots of one-off small brand fuzz cones for the highest prices imaginable.

Hey thanks for shedding some light on that.
I miss Lal by the way. They were supposed to announce a new pedal but I haven't heard anything about it yet...

as i like to say about preposterously overpriced items, "anybody who would pay that much deserves to."

but at least it's cool and unusual. i will never understand why people pay $900 for a Klon which is neither.

I’d pay $900 for a Klon to more than double my money on resale.

But it's just a boost for 2k? At least a klon has some dirt and might sound interesting

The Sakura is just a rangemaster. 99% of its appeal to me is that it looks cooler than most other rangemasters.

ahhh it's a rangemaster. I couldn't decipher what it actually is from 1 minute research  Ok that's more interesting than when I assumed it's a clean boost but still holy shit what a pricey rangemaster. It does look neat though.

Rangemasters have some of the best mark-up potential of any pedal you can build. Yes, they can be very, very cool, but the parts/effort is a strong reason so many builders put them out.

Eh... sort of?

The parts in a circuit are usually a small fraction of the total cost of building a pedal. Enclosures and hardware make up the bulk of what it costs to build something and those are generally consistent between simple pedals and complex pedals. There are exceptions but it doesn't cost much more to make a big muff than it does to make a rangemaster and the big muff has 5 times as many parts. On the flip side, if you want to complete in the rangemaster market people tend to want them built pretty snooty. On par with what LAL did in the Sakura. That can be more of a pain to build than someone 10 times more complex that is just built on a PCB. The main appeal of rangemasters for new builders is they are extremely simple and rather forgiving. You only need one transistor, its gain and leakage doesn't matter all that much relative to multi-transistor designs, and you can build one on vero or turrets or whatever without knowing much about layout.

Alesis ModFX Ampliton (stereo in/out tremolo and autopan). Not a total steal price but not bad considering the generally overinflated prices lately, and it comes with an AC adapter (220, it’s located in Italy so shipping to the US is high). These ModFX are nice tabletop units.
