If I didn't have a newborn at home I would hardly check facebook at all. I've definitely deactivated my account and then signed up for new accounts entirely.

Facebook is the absolute dregs of humanity.

Never signed up for it. I keep a fake on for academic stuff because for some reason people like to blend shop, leisure, friends, families which is absolutely horrendous to me.

Of my friends who use it, 50% keep things rigorously separate (their account is only a friends and family account). I just don't like how most people use it in a "blurred lines" fashion because it could ricochet on you with the "extended network" or photo tagging features. I also don't like that all discussions, photo sharing, event planning etc must be done on Facebook. It's impractical. Texts and emails however are very practical, and I use those for most everything, because everyone can use those.

I also don't like that it's a deforming mirror of the IRL self. The fact that it asks for your real name, real picture (that is often artificially embilished)... basically feels to me like people try to market themselves to their audience. Looking good and cool is more important than having actual thoughts or passions to share. This "everyone is judging" approach leads users to deny themselves or to alter reality to feel "safe", forbidding actual emotional connections. Basically it fails at internet because it should bring people closer and allow them to communicate and to be themselves without the fear of grandma or nosy coworker snooping around or having an heart attack because Jwar boner jokes are exchanged. Snapchat, for exemple, does a much better job at that, because just like IRL, not everything ends up on the record forever.

Also I'm private by nature and anxious about everything.

Yeah but that's exactly the issue. "Amongst friends". What if a coworker sends you a friend request? Do you turn it down and risk putting a damper on some working relations or do you breach the private/public wall? It's because I don't want to have to ask myself that question or don't want feel threatened by my connections to other humans (is he a friend, or a door for someone I'm not friends with to snoop in my stuff?) that I stay off of it.

Oh yeah, you were talking about the ILFEU pics where UC ILFKnob'd my face. Well that's because it would be public. You don't even have to sign up on ILF to see it, you just need the link. It's not about you guys. It's about the rest of the world. Every single one of you who has my email addy or sends texts or has me on Snapchat has seen my mug shot countless times. I'm okay with it as long as the recipient is defined and it is shared privately.
