Wow. Ok.
The only time I've ever dealt with reduced low-end on a record is when they shrink the groove in order to fit more songs on a side. That's why you're running in to trouble if you try to go more than about 23 minutes per side.
That... does not sound like what's happening here.
Iommic Pope wrote:$10 CofM, are you fucking kidding me!?
Yeah, that's a cool as shit name, but is it a rifle for hunting wizards, or a rifle made by/for wizards?
Children are more important than seeing Sleep....only marginally though (jk, I have two kids....although I did leave them in Brisbane).
That would have been a mad show.
And yes, Antarcticans Thawed rules hard.
Also, can't remember if I replied to dos, but you're right about holy mountain. All those songs come alive on stage, but then again, I have always hated the production on that record.
Needs to be dopesmokerified.
$10 CoM is pretty gnar.
And I like the Holy Mountain production for single songs--I do hate how it changes throughout the album, but that's what happens when you get your demos released as it, I guess.

True that.
On the record subject, is it 180g or like a real flimsy press?
It sounds like whoever mastered it may have just taken the CD/MP3 master and fobbed it off as a master for vinyl....which would be unlikely, but possible.

Its not 180 gram but it isn't the usual thin ones either. Somewhere in between. The grooves look as deep as Ruiner. I hope everyone else's copy isn't like this. It's a let down from the heaviness of the digital download so much that I don't see myself ever listening to it again. I guess this will be one that I only listen to in my truck.

So strange, by the times of the tracks that could almost fit on a 10". That thing should be heavy as shit. that stinks.

It may be 180 gram. It's early and I'm still foggy headed. I compared it to my 180 gram copy of Incesticide and they are the same thickness and weight. I didn't remember seeing it advertised as 180 gram on their bandcamp though. I hope this isn't keeping you guys from picking up a copy of the record. I'm sure they didn't miss the whole run sounding like this. I'm gonna email Brutal Panda and see whats up.
EDIT:
I just put the record on and played it along with the mp3 download on my computer. The record is faster than the digital download so the pitch is higher. Fuck.
On the other hand though, when you drop it down to 33rpm it sounds fucking massive.

This is more than a smidge, but all of my other records are at the correct speeds. What kind of record player do you have? I'm looking to hopefully upgrade mine for Christmas. I want one that has a more stable platter. When i crank mine sometimes I get some noise coming through where the vibrations from the speakers cause it to hum in the low frequencies a little.

Yeah, just waiting to hear back from them. In the meantime the digital download is getting blasted loud enough that the neighbors can hear it too.

For those of you looking for records--I go used myself, but important sells a rega rp-1 that's a super rad table. And you can get some properly heavy records at the same time. WIN. WIN.
