So, I put together a 7+ hour live Sun Ra compilation, and maybe some folks here might not think that's a weird thing to do. I have recently been grabbing stuff from a cache of 1985 recordings, mostly from bandstand tapes recorded by drummer Avreeayl Amen Ra. While I was organizing those, I copied all the tracks listed as "untitled improvisation" into a separate folder, and that's what we have here. I’ve arranged them more or less in chronological order and broke them into album-sized chunks. No sonic adjustments were made, so there are some bumps and glitches. The Arkestra would often start off a set with some improvising, so a lot of these have a things-starting-up quality. Sometimes they veer off into songs, sometimes collapse into soloing. It's quite a variety, to say the least. They came to me as FLACs, but I figured some folks are still using MP3's, so there is an MP3 fileset as well as FLACs (in two chunks).

Alan Purves* – original invented percussion
Mike Roelofs** – piano & melodion

Have a look at the awesome percussion instruments of Alan Purves! What sounds like an upright bass played in the high octaves can be seen at 0:31 and the '90s KORG Wavestation-like percussion looks like this at 4:50.

*British drummer and percussionist, living in Amsterdam
**Dutch jazz pianist

The "youtu.be" links don't work as far as I know. You have to use the standard youtube.com link: "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxxxxxx"
