Yep! That's pretty much what separates them from the MIJ.
The Japanese RI models have the 3 knob - volume, volume, tone, output jack configuration.
I have the John East Retro J preamp, hipshot tuners and bridge hopfully arriving this week.
Nothing wrong per say with the current setup, but I love hipshot hardware and I spoiled myself on their bridges years ago.
My buddy just did his with the East preamp and it sounds delicious. I can't wait.

lately I've been more into the simplicity of one pickup...all you really need in life is a neck pickup.

30" it's 60's - 70's japanese... the switch is weird... it.. is a three way that in 1: is off, 2: tone control bypass, 3, tone control bypass but runs you through the same cap as on the tone control so it's like having the tone control on full "tone"I just hooked the pickup up to what was still in the bass
