I only buy cables from Denmark. Heathens. And when I play my motherfucking pinky IS, in fact, out. Just like I drink my Earl Grey. Mofos.

And when I mean Orange is murky. It is. So suck on it.

Hahaha. But I don't mean that bad. It IS a veil of awesome. It is definitely colored. It's like a vintage tone whereas I see the Mesas as more of the clean hifi. And again, not saying it's bad. The entire reason I have the Swell B-Peg is to get that vintage dark murk tone because it fits Jet Jaguar more than the clean Glock sound. If I could afford three different rigs and had the space for it, I'd buy an Orange just to use for JJ. I won't excuse Ampeg, though. That shits just disgusting.

And yes, the Status is active and practically has a preamp built into it.

I have pretty bad ass parallel looper Mark from MSLP made for me. A dedicated tuner out and two loops with a switch that can change them from parallel to series. The first loop has a clean blend and a momentary footswitch for stutter effects and the second loop has a clean blend and a switch that turns it into a feedback loop. I bought that thing when I was going the software route. If I were buying it now, I'd have added a third loop that was just in series to put the Lunar Echo, Tremolessence, and my future sample looper into. Ah well. Guess I can make it work with those two loops, I'll just have to constantly be switching from series to parallel. Or get a really cheap looper to go with it.....

$10 ebay 5-packs for life.
Too long for normal pedal arrangement, too short when you really need 'em. Can't be repaired and you only get one non-obnoxious color per pack.
I just tie them in knots to reduce length. Glorious.
But I also play through a passive Y-splitter sometimes so, y'know, whatever. The only difference I notice is a volume drop, easy enough to fix that.
My highs control is only at noon anyway, I have octave fuzz if I need any more.
I'm a little closed-minded when it comes to pricy pedal-length cables. DIY ones for sure would be more convenient, but as for them sounding better I doubt it'd be noticeable with my setup. Not that I'm all about the mud, but I don't really care.
I don't skimp as much on longer ones like instrument cables; best to have something that isn't gonna cut out on you, but I'm still not gonna buy Monster or whatever.

I'll admit to owning two pricey instrument cables, but I didn't pay for either of them; a 21 ft Monster bass (black plugs) that came as a bonus when I bought my Stiletto, and a 20' Elixir that I beta-tested for the company and they let me (us...about a dozen or so from TB) keep afterward. The Monster is what it is, a nice-I-guess-yet-overpriced cable (but with a lifetime warranty), but the Elixir is actually a very nice cable; even Bongo said in his site review that he could hear a difference using it with his passive basses.

Also I has a Orange bullet coily cord which just makes me cooler then the rest of you :thumb:

The only reason I have ever paid more for a cable at all was because of the fact that it came with a lifetime warranty. I tend to go through cables and input jacks a lot. Once someone finally designs a indestructible one, I'll pay whatever price. But till then its overpriced ones that get replaced for free.

So I had the B3K sent to my in-laws house. Conveniently my wife's younger brother has his old Geddy Lee Jazz and a shitty Crate practice amp for me to plug into.

Even through the crappy speaker I can tell I'm going to like it a lot, I don't think I've played an OD quite like it before. Really psyched to run it through the big rig.

I really wanted to hate it too...

I like the B3K. It would be my ultimate pedal if I played in a punk (like Bouncing Souls) or metal band. I opted for the Swell since it does a better gritty indie thing. But if I change bands I could easily swing back B3K.

So one interesting thing I noted while doing the software thing. This sounds totally stupid....but I found a preset sound in Guitar Rig 5 that was EXACTLY like the B3K. It was a combo of compression and fuzz. The fuzz was set very light. But man....it got me thinking.....about compression in a whole new way. I mean, the B3K is unique from other dirt pedals in that it is so AWESOME after other pedals. Like...it just enhances the sound. It just really got me wondering how much compression is in it.

Now I know most of the people here haven't really tried a lot of compressors and don't really see the point in them....I'm think Douglas snuck a compressor with built in gain on us. And if this is true, I wonder if I should start looking more into compressors. FWIW, Bongo doesn't think compression has a lot to do with the B3K sound and he is to compression what Behndy is to underage asian tranny hookers with penises.

He lusts after them, but never actually plays with one. Not the most reliable of sources. :poke:

Well, most overdrive are kind of inherently compressing the signal is some way. I've used a couple of really nice compressors over the last month. I appreciated what they did, but I found with the exception of when I was using it with a fretless, it was a luxury that was getting me near the return on what I paid for it.

I'm pleased with what the Opto Stomp does at the end of my chain (subtle tone enhancement); I'd also like to try a Pwnzor, based on the clips I've heard.
